Vilander
22 byes - freebies from bowlers down the leg, trying to bowl a tight off-stump line, else it would have been even lesser; curran played well survived some close ones luckily early as always. 227 at the end of Day 1, a flat pitch that is not doing much. India are in a very strong position for a 380-440 runs in first innings day 2-3 - bowl out Eng for 120 odd ..nice and easy. Link to comment
The Cricket Cast
India are in a prime position to really get a stranglehold in this match. 19-0 is a very solid start. That being said, the English seamers will also eventually get their wickets. The only question is how big of a lead will India get? Will it be > 100 or less than 100, which in theory keeps England in the hunt. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Lannister
It's upto batsmen to take the initiative on this batting-friendly wicket. Bowlers have done a commendable job here. We cannot ask more than that. We are expecting a minimum of 400 runs. UrmiSinhaRay, Gollum and Adi BB 1 2 Link to comment
SK_IH
Both openers need to target big ones, both have been guilty of throwing away starts especially Dhawan. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

Considering the conditions man. If the ball starts swinging like that during our innings, this is will look a damn competitive score. Also we are expected to bat last on this wicket. Laaloo
Just bat like we did last match and we should be able to good. Tridibans_16, BlueBee, UrmiSinhaRay and 1 other 2 1 1 Link to comment
Adi BB
Our bowlers have too much pressure to restrict the opposition below par score and carry the burden of our flop batting marathas.with any decent batting unit a lead of 100 was a sure shot after getting the home team 246 AO on this good wkt but not for our batsmen ,246 is still a big score to overcome for this batting line up UrmiSinhaRay, Gollum, sensible-indian and 2 others 1 2 2 Link to comment

rkt.india
50 runs too many for England in the end. anything around 190 would have been absolute corker of a day. Now the game very much is in balance. We will need at least one 100 and two 50s from the top 7 to put England under pressure. Pitch is good for batting and stroke play. Will have to counter the swing. Ben Stokes can be the real danger man here. CoverDrive, UrmiSinhaRay and Switchblade 1 1 1 Link to comment

TBH, it is even-steven at this point. England has a good fighting total in hand. Their deep batting line always saves them. I remember same thing happened in Trentbridge 2011. They were 110/8 and broad came and thrashed our bowlers and they got 200 plus that provided the difference in the end. Here it was Sam Curran, another left hander. Gollum
Can't understand the doomsayers here. This is the most batting friendly pitch of the series. Average 1st innings score is 376 LINK and in our last test here in 2014 England scored 569/7 batting 1st. Here again they won the toss and batted 1st, so for them to finish under 250 on day 1 means we are in driver's seat. Today and 1st half of tomorrow will be the perfect time to bat and they are missing Woakes. I see no demons here, apply well and we may even get 500+ on this patta. They made a comeback yesterday but the pitch was playing so easy then, they bat deep and are the home team....don't expect them to bend over every time. In our home stretch in 2015-17 so many times the bottom 5 outscored top 5, home teams don't give up that easily, not even the weaker ones like WI/BD. Bowlers have done a splendid job and now the batsmen will join the party, stop the whining and start backing the team FGS. Hope Rahul, Rahane, Dhawan step up....Kohli can't do it every single time. Also want Ashwin to come in at number 3 if the openers get a good start, we need to keep the runs flowing. Edited August 31, 2018 by Gollum Lannister and AuxiliA 2 Link to comment
