yep the amount batting talent available with India, Rahane should have been dumped post Eng tour

Amazing how low he goes under the radar..  Everytime he fails there is always another scape goat getting the brickbats and this guy continues his dismal performance, scores a 50 here and there.. and what more continues to be the vice captain. Lol

Rahane been disappointing in this series. And his struggles against Lyon doesn't bode well for home matches where spin will dominate.

It was frustrating to watch him today, historic match, and complete lack of game awareness.

He came in when best time to bat, ball was 50 overs old, 30 overs to new ball, Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood were tiring, and Pujara came out of his shell and was dominating Lyon (scoring a boundary of Lyon's every over).

But Rahane came in played a maiden after maiden off Lyon!!!!! :wall: , all Rahane had to do was rotate strike and let Pujara face Lyon for 3-4 deliveries per over.

It was a horrible Rahane innings in that phase of 50th to 70th over! wasted opportunity to capitalise on the hard work.

Fortunately his shortcomings were covered by a sublime attacking innings from Vihari.

it is a disgrace actually. Ind wasted significant amount of matches playing this guy in multiple formats. Dont know how is this guy getting all the backing, with these inconsistent displays. Its like he is alraedy elevated to some kind of batting greatness or pedigree akin to our former greats like Dravid/Laxman. People need to smell the coffee and concede this guy is just above average at best.

He always has been a mediocre batsman at home .his only  legacy was his performance  in SENA .Now he has destroyed that too.

In the past , seen several batsmen adapting like duck into water in their strong zones , how ever poor their performance had been in the immediately preceded  weak zone series. But with Rahane that too seems to be eluding. So it is time up for him now

Its as though Tendulkar distributed his talent & temperament into 2 halves... the talent part going to Rohit & the temperament to Rahane. Very difficult to succeed without an iota of the other part

but rahane's temperament is suspect too in recent times.
