Lol mithali is another selfish t20 cricketer. Plays for avg and stats and i would say it's brave call by captain. I know whole world is against Kaur but i am glad she took that decision. India would have anyway lost with Mithali in side. Her 30 or 40 balls wouldn't have really helped and england would have still chased it down.

Yes India would have lost in the final anyway even had they beaten England in semis. So should have dropped Mandhana and herself too. What logic is this? You should always play your best XI. Yes Mithali has strike rate issues but her replacements are far far far far far far far far far worse.

Most dissapointing is this veda krishnamurthy...she has power game and should have helped kaur. Even in the ODI wc final she played very poor afridiesque shot.

I am with Harman on this. Mithali made her debut in 1999' that's 20 years back. In last game against Ireland, she played 50 ball 56 and India score under par 145 against a poor team like Ireland even though we lost only 2 wickets. 

 

This isnt just one game. Mithali did that through out her t20 career. She should retire from t20s

My problem is the gulf between Harman/Mandana and others are so huge in T20. It was obvious throughout the tournament. Mandana and Kaur high risk players. In the semis she was dropped, even in the previous match she was dropped.  So if they have an off day that is pretty much it for India. They are gone. They could have retained her atleast as a lower order bat. They always banked on either Kaur or Mandana coming good. They didn't. Results were there to see. You cannot go into a match depending on 2 players.

Just like women's tennis they earn the right to have their own limelight. We celebrate Mary kom. She is a woman. We celebrate Sania Mirza, Sindhu. THey are women as well.  Let us not show gender bias here. I am proud of them taking up this game as their passion inspite of the fact there is not much to gain from it. I don't think not even in the wildest dream they would think they are better than men. It is a regular politics between a upcoming midlevel player and a senior player.

Stupid Manager should have kept her mouth shut...you have to respect Captain's call. Even though I feel with hindsight it was not a good call but Harman wanted to be aggressive going into SF and took a decision accordingly.

This. Harman is India’s captain and this nobody of a manager has no right to use this vulgar words for India’s captain. 

 

 

Mithali was part of all our previous t20 world cups where we didn’t even qualify for Semis. 

 

Sad part is, after this incident no new captain will ever take a bold step by dropping a senior player.

Maybe they could have tried going without Mithali in some of the smaller t20 bilaterals. There was always going to be some risk when trying it in a semi final game. I can see why they wanted a bowler all rounder to replace a bat. I can also see why they might have preferred batters with higher scoring rates. Problem is outside of say 3 people- Harmanpreet, Smriti and Jemima, we had batters playing like tailenders. Mithali easily replaces one of those pretenders. The wicket keeper who opened with Smriti was a walking wicket. A Mithali Smriti start would have provided the foundation for the likes of Harmanpreet to really go for it. All that being said, Harmanpreet is a risk taker. Her gamble could have worked. So, that manager should have taken a few deep breaths before accusing people. Also calling Mithali selfish is nonsense. She played a large role in keeping India competitive when the sport had no support and the players were paid nothing. This group, as a whole, is great. They have got people like me interested in following their game. They have secured BCCI support and have become the first bunch to actually get contracts, professional coaching etc.

+1 she is such a binding force.  The call was made by Dumb fat ass Ramesh powar.  These girls just didn't say objection to it.
