Pandya adds to imbalance because he is being selected purely as bowler who has to complete his 10 overs. If Jadhav is playing then he might share his overs. Watson was one of three allrounders in their team. You can't have just Pandya in the team as an allrounder, he becomes fifth bowler then.He is not good enough to bowl his 10 overs every match. so who you want to play then? playing with 5 specialist bowlers is not possible.

Indian team is not built to have Pandya as a fifth bowler.Pandya becomes fifth bowler rather than allrounder. If it were me I would play five bowlers and hope they keep the scoring down.If they have to play then play all three Jadhav , Pandya and Shankar. But they can't that is problem.

Aus did have Symonds, Darren Lehman, Shane Watson and Ian Harvey in 2003 as the alrounders and 5th bowler. They also had an alrounder in 2015 in Watson, James Faulkner and Mitchell Marsh in 2015. No team plays with 5 specialist bowlers in ODIs. You do need an alrounder. who can bat at 6-7 and bowl some overs. A genuine allrounder is one who fits into the team purely as a batsman or a bowler. Pandya at best is a bits 'n pieces player. He can't finish his quota nor does he fit purely as a batsman. If we select him, we need Jadhav or another batsman finishing up the quota of 10 overs. putrevus 1

Spot on , Pandya instead of adding balance creates imbalance to the side.
Stan AF Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 We don't have all-rounders. At-least not in the int'l levels. End of story.
vijay50 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Read this about Pandya debate. He is not bowling his 10 over quota much anywars https://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/106254/in-hardiks-absence-india-seek-to-find-missing-piece-of-bowling-puzzle
rahulrulezz Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Problem is our so called allrounder is Jadeja. Jadeja has won 1 match winning 50 in his 145 ODis. We need Krunal Pandya or Krishnappa Gowtham SK_IH and flamy 2
sscomp32 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 You either play genuine ones like Stokes or you back specialists. Cant have fake all rounders like jadeja. SK_IH and Stan AF 2

He always bowls filth and leaks runs anyways.
flamy Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 With Pandya, we can have KulCha, I dunno why people think no balance. Pandya and Jadhav together will work for us. And, that's what they'll play. One of Bhuvi or Shami will sit out. Just wish we had Pandya in NZ for a trial run.

Agree. India must play the following for WC 1. Rohit 2. Dhawan 3. Kohli 4. Dhoni 5. Karthik/ Rayudu 6. Jadhav ( our suresh raina equivalent). 7. Bhuvneshwar 8. Shami 9. Bumrah 10. Kuldeep/ Chahal 11. Specialist bowler or Another batter ( if its weak) then followed by Pandya/ Jadeja. Play Bhuvi as genuine allrounder who can bowl 10 overs and give 20 runs instead of Pandya as all rounder. putrevus 1
vijay50 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 3 good pacers are must to have a chance to win WC outside subcontinent. 2003 WC- Srinath, Zak, Nehra 2013 CT- B.Kumar, Ishant, Yadav 2015 WC- Shami, Yadav, Mohit.
flamy Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 ^ In Eng, this time, there is more help for spin, and two wristspinners in tandem would be valuable. cowboysfan 1
vijay50 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Champions trophy finals 2017 held on June 18, 2017( close to summar start). Finals india played- Bhuvi, Bumrah, Pandya, Kedar, Ashwin, Jadeja. We lost this match. If 3rd wicket taking pacer would have played only 2 of ashwin/ jadeja/ pandya would have played. Maybe we would have restricted pak to less than 300. in the league match of CT 2017 against Pak we played 3 pacers and won- BKumar, Yadav, Bumrah, and jadeja, pandya, kedar. In this wc 2019 Pandya if at all he plays then must play as 4 th seamer. Not 3 rd seamer. There is always a risk one of 3 seamers can have off days and we need back up at that time only.
vijay50 Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Don’t put too many bits abd pieces cricketers like pandya, jadeja, Kedar and make it another Pak team. Have specialists with no more than 2 bits and pieces cricketer in playing 11 to win WC.
cowboysfan Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 there is a very good reason why there is a derth of All-rounders,these guys dont have developed skills with both bat and ball and also very injury prone.
putrevus Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 People tend to forget Pandya’s bowling in world t20 semis against WI. If they had proper fast bowler who knows they would have won that cup. That is problem, they are playing him for that finishing skill at the expense of his bowling which he has to perform every match.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
