^^^ You are wrong Pant could have played as no4 if Shankar failed, Shankar has played 5 total matches and these bozo selectors expect him to be no4 for the most pressurized matches any player can play.

 

 

Rahul should have been standby opener and keeper. This team has just 4 specialist batsmen in the squad. How heck are they going to compete.

Karthik being hailed as a finisher is questionable. He doesn't finish by scoring 75 not out 50 not out. Often 30s or 40s not out at best.

That also doesn't always happen. 

 

Probably to improve dressing room atmosphere. Who would want a 21 year old among them. Now they can pair up

Why was Mayank not even brought into discussion for the world cup.He too me looks the most accomplished player of spin among all Indian batsmen including Kohli.The way he handled Lyon was a delight.He has better SR in list A than Rahul or Shankar.He is already playing in middle order in IPL.

Rayudu knows that its the end of his any chances (even if someone gets injured - which no one wants) as Pant would be in standby more for any replacement.

What kind of Lahori Logic is this from Simon Doull? Karthik is better selection over Pant because he would be more than happy to sit on bench where as Pant would want to play. If thats the criteria, even i would be thrilled to sit on the bench, and i won't even want to pick up my bat for whole tournament.

It seems Pant has snubbed them in one of the matches, that's why as per them he is not that goody goody and DK is a gentleman

Pant vs Karthik is marginal. With Rahul going i would have wanted neither. I would have preferred someone like Agarwal. Solid investment. Ability to play longer innings. Ability to dominate spinners. Can open in case Rohit hurts his belly. If it comes down to Pant or Karthik only upside i see for KKD is he can field better than Pant ( notwithstanding his easy drops at times).
