sergio04 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 (edited) After great start from opners against Australia opening bowlers Virat kohli came to bat at 127-1 Australia 4th and 5th bowlers were bowling, no pressure,flat pitch ,short boundries needed 100 runs from him from 77 balls but alas,he did not scored at required pace. he was on 59 runs off 65 balls at one stage played selfishly for his runs not for team cause. Also 352 and 320 a huge a diff Ashwin didn't play the match against Lanka in CT 2017, which was a blunder IMO. He is generally good against them and they had many LHBs that day.

Lets see. we scored 66 runs during 30-40 overs even when 1 wicket was down We could have got 15 runs extra in 30 -40 overs if virat played with intent. AK007 1

Cummins and Starc bowled with a plan for one guy - Kohli to keep all fielders on off and bowl him on 4th and 5th stump. Yet Kohli batted with over 100 strike rate and made it easy. It was toughest for him tos core with all the Aussie bowling plan just to keep him silent yet he found gaps to score. Indian top order batted great, all of them. Smith is for me the best Test batsman by a distance, but as an ODI bat he is not even in the top 10 of the world these days. VK, Ross Taylor, Root, Babar, Butler, Rohit, Roy, Dhawan, Williamson, etc. are all better than him. Heck, Warner and arguably Khawaja are better.
