WeStMiDz Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Jonny Bairstow has started the whining already. “The pitches that we’ve been playing on the last two years are surely the pitches we [should] be playing on in a World Cup,” he said, “so I don’t know why they’ve changed. “That wasn’t a typical Oval wicket we played South Africa on in the opening game. It wasn’t a typical Trent Bridge wicket we played Pakistanon. It wasn’t a typical Lord’s wicket that we played the other day. They’re not the typical wickets we’ve been playing on over two and a bit years. That’s just factual. But I’m not making excuses, we’ve not played well enough to beat sides when we should have done. We know that.” Real McCoy, SrinjayDutta, gooner and 1 other 4

Moving back to the original thread, my XI is: Rohit, Pant, Kohli, Rahul, MSD, Jadhav, Pandya, Kuldeep, Shami, Bumrah, Chahal. IMO, our real weakness is at No. 4 even more than Nos. 6 and 7, where we have decent-to-good players. Having Pant open and giving him license to attack while also playing himself in (and not slogging from ball 1 as he would at 7) will enable him to play a Gilly-type enforcer role. Real McCoy 1

I was among the first ones to suggest that Pant should be tried as an opener during NZ/Aus series. However, the tracks are not behaving like what I had in mind (Eng is talking about that) .... His first game at Edgbaston can be tricky so Ind should start him at 5 or 6. Depending upon how he does (and on KL’s form), Pant can open Vijy 1

zen Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 Bulldogs will be seeking to bounce back hard. If they get into rhythm, could go all the way. Bears will have to be at their best!
