Its evident with his setup that he is not looking to attack. Dont curb ur natural game or else there are many to replace u . If he ends up batting at dhawan s.r then Tm will go to dhawan for being a leftie. Captain n Coach shud talk to him and clear his role. Role clarity is where both Captain n coach comes in play. Ishan even if he can play half as good as he did today will replace Dhawan. Rohit will most probably replace KL when he is ready to come back. KL has age on his side & will get plenty of chances. But team management should make his role clear, his job isn’t to hold one end up. Kohli/Iyer can do that, his job should be to make good use of the PP restrictions. BacktoCricaddict 1 Link to comment

Yea but he hasn't yet established himself in test n odis and by the time it happens he might be around 30 31..by the safety first approach he has taken recently in t20s, even that is looking shaky. All it takes is couple of good knock fron Pant and failures from Rahul n he will b getting the in n out treatment again if he loses the wk spot. Again as i said his approach has changed since IPL and it will spell doom for him sooner or later. The innings he played in second odi in aus was a fine one though. His immediate replacement Rohit isn’t young either. With rotation, he should get his chances unless prithvi or padikkal come of age. Rahul has shown he can be good, he just needs to stop going into a shell without trying. Edited March 14, 2021 by IndianRenegade Link to comment

KL spot in next match is already looking in doubt if Rohit is to return and that will be another confidence breaker for him. I love KL Rahul the batsman, and I still am a sucker for his batting, but my god whatever he's done thus far from IPL 2020 has high-key been infuriating. He seems to be pessimistic. He was the same during the world cup, scoring 50s but not trying to accelerate even after he got settled. With his wide range of shots he can pace his innings very well, but refuses to do so. When he came on the scene was considered only a long format player. His List A sr was in the 70s... Ravi_Shastri
The lamest excuses that ICF makes for their darlings = he doesn't get chances / he is told by TM to play slow / his confidence is destroyed. Bla bla bla load of bull crap. 1)35 test match are more than enough for anyone worth their salt to prove themselves. 2)This guy has an entire aura of a weakling. 3) Doesn't know what approach works for him. Sometimes he's a test bat sometimes he's a t20 hitter. Sometimes he plays test in t20. So many thrilling chase killing innings last IpL. The kind of form Rishab is in, its kind of difficult to not play him, granted his avg & strike rate are not great in T20 but that is just going to improve. Kishan deserves a fair run with the debut he has had. KL is good but he is not Hitman. India has to look at adding a bowler but with no boom boom & shami, India probably played safe & strengthened the batting. SKY will probably get the axe if India needs to strengthen the bowling.
