MS Dhoni won’t be first-choice wicketkeeper, but will help team in smooth 'transition'

Thala started by advising individual players.

Then he gave advice to entire teams (his and unfortunately, lately, the opposition).

Now he has advanced to advising an entire cricket system (by the way, the words 'smooth transition' in connection with BCCI sounds like a gay man telling his first time lover- "No darling this won't hurt at all, it'll be a smooth transition")

Very soon, he will advise RSS, BJP, Modi-ji and all of India.

And then we, the valorous men and beautiful women of Aryavarta, shall together:˜

Looks to be a perfect excuse to justify him not retiring despite being totally over the hill.

Why does he think he is needed for the transition? He himself ensured Ganguly, Dravid, VVS, Sehwag were all dropped from ODIs without the need for 'transition'. When he retired from Tests midway on a tour to Australia, where was this thinking of 'helping the transition'. I hope the selectors have the guts and drop him from the LOIs if he does not announce his retirement before the tam is picked on 19th July.

As long as we have sheeps, who blindly worship him, nothing's going to change. It's funny to think one player can have this much clout and even the officials are fear to drop him. Indian cricket is a joke.

Dhoni is not just a player, he is like a mythological hero for casual fans. They keep parroting the "Dhoni is smart, he is the best finisher, he is still good, if he goes, the team will collapse" etc myths to keep his legend going.

In short shameless man has been kicked out.

Fecker should have been kicked out 18-24 months ago. Hung on like a leech because phattu Kohli and chaddi wetter selectors bought the "world cup is just 1-1.5 years away, we need his "invaluable" experience" theory.

“Those tracking developments say Dhoni will not want to retire from the game because he’s got another year at

Chennai Super Kings

. Fresh player contracts in IPL were signed by franchises in 2018 for a three-year term, during which franchises also retained their star cricketers on similar terms. “MS can’t just walk away like that. The Super Kings ride on him and he’s the franchise’s backbone. Not just the Indian team, he has to oversee a transition there too. After all, it’s been more than a decade-long association with them,” say those within the IPL fraternity.”

But who is asking him to retire from IPL? In fact, retired international players have played in IPL:hmmmm:

PS hope that ppl judge Pant based not on how Dhoni was at his peak but how Dhoni started out. Dhoni got a lot of support initially to become what he was

Why is dhoni hiding behind all this ?

He should straight away come out and explain what he wants to do ,if he doesn't want to retire he should clearly state it .

Only a shameless man will hide behind these excuses like "helping in smooth transition" . He should have the guts to do a PC and tell what he wants to do and not shoot through the shoulders of a third person

Msk prasad gutless selector giving in to player power.

IN his defense, Dhoni is way too powerful for a nobody like MSK Prasad lol. If it is were upto ICC they will write a new rule, "Any player that has a surname Dhoni should not be left out of selection until he decides to retire"

Dhoni is smart. In the next 4 years, only major ODI ICC event is the WC in 2023. There is no CT planned. Focus would be on WT20 and WTC. Dhoni appears to be focusing on T20 (mention of IPL). WT20 will be played in Aus and Ind in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Since Ind is a planning laggard, it could ignore T20s and focus on ODIs, where it has time
