Lone Wolf Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Kohli's last freakish ICC tourney was back 4 years ago 2016 T20 WC.. 2016 was when he hit his peak. In IPl In Tests & In T20Is. He is not the same force anymore. Although won't be a bad choice to make Rohit Captain for T20Is as two T20 WC's are around.. But I don't think any of this is happening yet.. If we again got KO'ed next year T20 WC at home.. Then it'll be curtains for him as a LOI captain.. Including ODIs. Test Championship Final will also be crucial for him.

I don't think Kohli the captain has not done any major wrong as an Indian captain other than flopping in two big knock matches as a batsman. Every captain has his own views on how to lead the team. If Dhawan did not get hurt who knows how the world cup would have ended up. He has excelled otherwise as a batsman in all formats after becoming captain.Captaincy is not a burden for him.He is the most fit player on the team and has made Indian team very fit too by focussing on fitness. People are ridiculous about him too. They made a big deal of him smiling with Pakistani players after the CT 2017 is also big deal for some reason. He is playing a sport not going to war. No one has any issues with Kohli the batsman. It’s his captaincy and his team selections that is the main issue. Selecting to chase against Pakistani in the CT final after you already whooped their asses batting first before. And then losing one of the biggest final to your arch rivals and then laughing with Amir. What the hell was that about? Why does he try and sledge Kendrick Williams in a pointless match but seen laughing and giggling after losing a big match? Mosher, raki05, sorak and 3 others 5 1

Magically Rohit Sharma does not become a greater batsman once he is made captain. Losing in knockout matches does not make team mediocre, they just are not getting over the line. Dhoni lost more tournaments than he won. Kohli captained two major tournaments and made it to finals and semis in other one. That too with very unbalanced team. Kohli has excelled in T20 knockout matches, so it is not like he flops under pressure. He has just not able to repeat his magic with bat in 50 over knockout matches. Nor magically Rohit Sharma could have solved India's number 4 problem if he was made captain. Making to a SF with 3 good teams is not a great achievement. Rasgulla, Gollum and Ankit_sharma03 2 1

He's still riding on the back of that under 19 win, I think either the selectors are fools or doesn't have the baals to move him from captaincy. Kohli doesn't inspire as a leader, he hasn't grown mentally, he's an abusive loud mouth, and that's not a quality of a leader when 10 others in the field are looking upto you. The fact that he is regressing as a batsman is also an area of concern. If he has any shame he would voluntarily hand over the white ball captaincy to Rohit and continue to focus on his batting and lead only in Tests, till KL Rahul is ready for the leadership role in Tests. No he is not riding on under 19 world cup win. He has the most test wins by any Indian captain. He has the highest winning percentage in odis too.How is that riding on back of his under 19 world cup. He has scored more test 100s as captain other than Graeme Smith who captained 50 more tests. He has scored 21 100s as odi captain in 89 matches. What else you want from any captain.

Why is it a big deal .He sledged Williams during the match which he has done to many other players. People were going on and on about how Shaw and Gill should be playing over the players selected.First they started with Rahane and Rahul in SA and what the heck did they do in England. He has been saddled with one of the worst batting talents as a captain. He took over a number 7 test team and made into a force in all conditions. He has won odis everywhere other than two knock out matches, Other than NZ series tell me when was any Indian team competing in all conditions. They just lost key moments in most matches. But you lost one of the biggest final your country played. You scored one run. Keep your freaking head down and stop giggling with the opposition. It’s the least you can do. I am not mixing any format.Even in Odis Kohli has done nothing wrong , he scored 21 odis 100s in 89 matches as a captain and has won everywhere in odis.Yes he did not win the CUP. I don't hold that against him as a captain. One thing I hold against him is him failing as a batsman in big spots. He has to stand and deliver which he has not done in Odis.I blame Kohli for Semi final loss, he had to be good enough to negotiate Bolt in those conditions. I still don't understand why does it matter if he scored 1 run or 100s runs , it is not a big deal to laugh with other team's players. Lot of Indian players in past had Pakistani players as their good friends.I hated losing that finals too but common we are now making a big deal about him laughing with other players. He can bat well even without being captain. His biggest problem is impatience with players. One day he will say Rahul is too good to be left out and the next day, you won't find his name in the XI. He doesn't let any player settle in LOI cricket. Only top 3 spots have been fixed. Rest all played musical chairs without giving anyone enough games Sgattick10 1
Khota Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 To me IPL is the best benchmark and I 100% agree with Gambhir's comment. Yes Rohit should be the captain. Anyone but Kohli.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Slowly pressure of Rohit the captain will mount on kohli

Nidhas - DK can feel bad all he wants but he was send at right position, becoz he is best when there is nothing to think whereas DK was send at worst position in Semi final in 2019 Agree.. Ideally DK should have played where Dhoni played.. Dhoni should have come at 4 and stopped the fall of wickets.. That is the only thing he was fairly good at.. he could have blocked one end Ankit_sharma03 1
Adamant Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Chance should be given to this mota too, but i know he is a lousy and stupid captain who is lucky to have a strong team like MI. I saw ths guy's Captaincy in Nidahas trophy, he won that just because of a freak innings and last ball six by dk. I was shocked to see his fans praising him for sending dk as a finisher. Haha Same goes for asia cup where we won a nailbiter against bangladesh in the finals. Believe me the guy is nothing special but i realise that he deserves his chance. Bumrah should be our next captain. Ankit_sharma03, Sgattick10 and speedheat 3

Rest all played musical chairs without giving anyone enough games Rahul has been given the longest rope by any captain , he stunk in test cricket still was made to play in 4 different continents over two years. So dropping Rahul for an odd limited over format is not a big deal at all. Stop making it into a big deal. It is Rahul who needs to adapt and he started doing it by becoming WK in shorter formats. There is no rule that every player has to be given 100 matches in row in every format. They tried various players for that no4 and non of them worked, cannot blame either Shastri or Kohli there. As an Indian captain in all formats Kohli has done fine. Edited November 12, 2020 by putrevus
