Is 19 Dec 2020 officially the worst day in Indian cricket history?

I mean I have never seen India played worse than this. There has been many poor days like WC Semi 2019, Ct final 2017, whitewashes under Dhoni era etc. But this has to be at the top, surely?

I have seen three of these before. This is the 4th.

 

1996 WC semi, 2003 World cup final and 1999 loss to zimbabwe.

Special mentions: 2007 loss to bangladesh and sri lanka was a double whammy on the same week. Our campaign started on saturday and ended on friday.

It's not that we lost....we have been losing regularly for decades whenever we set foot on SENA soil but the way we lost.....jeezus ! 

 

No spine, zero resilience, zero out of the box thinking.....Getting all out for 36 is absolutely unforgivable for even the liked of zimbabwe. And we are the so called "top side"..... 

 

I was always skeptical of our chances even yesterday night because of the mental midget army that we have at our disposal but even in the wildest of my imaginations I didn't think it'll be this bad of a capitulation.

Have followed cricket for 50 years. But this has to be the worst that I have not watched. Good for me.

 

Thankfully, I only watched 5 overs on day 1 and none thereafter. Could have easily been the worst day I watched in my lifetime. Feeling lucky hahaha.

Absolutely worst day but I am not surprised it has happened .

#1 test nation with huge amount of money BUT 

No plan for years 

Selection of players to each team looks more like names in a hat 

No idea who is a test , odi or T20 player .

Ridiculous head coach and back up team appointments

Don't get me on about the captain and his overseas team selections and pitch reading 

Selection committee is a joke 

I could go on and on 

India SHOULD dominate cricket for next 15 years and only people stopping this is India 

But don't despair all is not lost you will see soon another IPL and everything will be forgotten . 

I love India but I really despair watching this shambles when it could be all so different

while I agree with most of  your post, I notice that IPL is brought up as a taunt usually when India loses in international cricket m. However I don’t see anything wrong with IPL over shadowing everything else.

 

While every domestic cricketer good or bad has dreams of playing test cricket, what gets him his pensions and other perks are from the IPL.

 

Lot more people will remember RCB or MI sub 100 all outs than this humiliation. May be that is pushing it as this is a world record but you get my point.

 

There is a demand for IPL, players seem to want to play it, it brings huge money into the game and the average joe (like me) love it and it introduces a lot more new fans to the game than anything else would.So nothing wrong in moving on from this loss once IPL starts.

 

Why can’t IPL be independent of Indias crappy performances in internationals?

This is the worst.

 

In the past India lost sometimes at bigger stages but they shrugged off the defeat and came back stronger. The psychological damage and loss of confidence with this defeat will take some times to recover. But, if India performed much better and were able to take some sort of revenge in coming tests , that would make huge difference.
