Simple! India choked and this is a pattern

Taking nothing away from Aussies, as it was some unbelievable bowling from them but at the same time it also  wasn’t bowl opposition for 36  type bowling either.

Our morons saw the lead, their eyes lit up and they thought they had it in the bag without any game plan. I am sure “we got this”, “crush them boys” type of statements were made in the dressing room after the lead.

There is a pattern here

CT 2017 final was supposed to be a cakewalk against a no.8 ranked side with mostly rookie Pakistani players. India destroyed badly. Not just a loss but humiliation.

WC 2019 SF: Indian team was happy to face Nzl over England/Australia, kept  them to a middling total and yet again were expected to cruise through. What happened? Another humiliation. It looked lot closer in the end due to MSD-Jadeja but c’mon after the first 30 mins we knew it was over. Another choke job.

I think our team gets over confident and they choke as simple as that. Shastri’s smarminess and overconfidence and Virat’s choking under pressure is the reason. Simple.

Happened in 2018 MCG as well, after 1st innings lead of 280 we were blown away for 105 by Cummins' 6fer. Many soft dismissals by getting strangled down leg side, couple of dollies went to leg slip I think.

I was thinking about that match yesterday and hoped we would really apply ourselves, lol jokers did worse.

These batsmen are mental midgets, look at their 4th innings performances as well, worse than 8 other teams (overall) and bottom placed in away matches. Something comes out of syllabus or when they have to weather a storm they meekly fold instead of fighting it out. Cowards...

Yo did you forget the Adelaide choke job in 2014? For all the *in hype Brat gets he has choked at least half a dozen times in tests, I'm not even counting his ODI chokeslams, this guy is a poser & faker of the highest order!

Ask a 45 yo Sachin to pad up along with retired Sehwag, Dravid, VVS, Dada. Make them face the bowling we saw today morning and even at this age they won't allow 36 ao kind of situation. That is how much our standards have fallen.

@maniac you're onto something here. I've checked the aussie forums. some of them think this is like a paid vacation for the Indian team. The catches dropped and the smiles that followed have been noticed there too. They also feel like Kohli doesn't really care about tests. They also think the smiles in the dugout when Bumrah was batting yesterday night were unprofessional and arrogant. Its never over until the last wicket is taken or the last run is scored. This team would be beaten home and away by the Aus team of the 00s.

Mark Waugh questioned on air whether India has a fielding coach. Its not just Indian critics and fans but also from the opposition. Our batsmen thought this pitch was bowling oriented and any score over 100-150 would be enough to roll the aussies over. Such arrogance and overconfidence translates to choking at the end. You respect the game or its game over for you. Epic thrashing. Didn't see 36 ao. I thought we'll atleast score 50+ with Kohli at the crease. Of course rat had anushka in mind before playing the loose drive to gully

Good captains with a professional set of coaches push their teams to higher levels by continuously raising the bar. Here we have a captain-coach who were satisfied with fighting series losses in SA and England , saw a WC semi spot as a great achievement. 2017 CT was again due to a captain unable to handle the situation of a wicket off a no ball and unable to rally his troops.

All this incompetence has been obvious for a long time now. Needs a complete overhaul, instead what we will get is a few tinkerings here and there

This is an over reaction now. In 2011, Australia were 21/9 and then bowled out for 47 after a big lead against South Africa. In 2015 Ashes, Australia were bowled out for 60 and in 2019 Ashes, bowled England out for 60 a test they went on to lose. Australia were also bowled for 85 at home against RSA 4 years ago. All big teams have had such horror days.

What matters is whether they can come back from this.

No teams repeatedly surrenders in alien conditions like the batting unit under Kohli in the last 2-3 years. They just get rolled over series after series. Others lose and come back harder. Here we have the captain saying do not make mountain out of a molehill! That's being totally shameless as if the results donnot matter to him.

D/N tests have to be banned, at least by BCCI. I am convinced of it, esp for India

Yup, it's a recipe for disaster! Fortress India would be like Somnath temple at the end of it.

It has always been pattern since 2013..We almost escaped against depleted England side in 2013 CT thanks to Sir Ishant. India would have lost to one of the worst ODI side after dominating entire tournament. Same in wt20 2014, after playing like a champion throughout the wt20, could score only 125 in final when everyone was predicting easy win against Lanka. And then came ct17 final amd wc19 sf as op mentioned. Cant believe i'm following this **** show since last 7 yrs.

I dont care how fans and future generations judge kohli based on his records .

But having seen him play for so long ,he is no champion against all odds.

He thrives on easy situations ,he has never scored in a knockout game where stakes are high neither have i seen him score when there are collapses, like today. He is usually part of procession when things get really tough.

I will give him credit that he is indeed amazing at capatalizing when odds are greatly in your favour,in such situations he more often than not scores heavily.

But his biggest failure is as a captain.

He should give up ODI captaincy first, play as a batsman, good for him and for us all too.

You are looking at this 36 ao in isolation. But look at our last 6 innings, 4 in NZ and 2 here. Then most of our tests in RSA/Eng in 2017-18 where Kohli was carrying the batting unit. Our 4th innings record which is only better than BD and away from home worst among all 10 teams, avg some 16 per wkt. We can't even come close to chasing 170-190 totals outside comfort zone, not once in a (very very.....) long time.

All the examples you cited were freak shows, on either side you'll see those teams scoring plenty. India was bowled out in one session in 2008 Motera by Steyn, 76 ao which was pathetic considering the venue. 1999 Mohali against NZ where Dion Nash bundled us out for 83 on day 1. Those aren't talked about much. Why? Since on either side of those **** totals you'll see the real strength of those units. This Indian batting unit unfortunately has been in free fall in SENA for a long time. They don't inspire any confidence and there is no attempt to fix it.

Summer of 42 isn't discussed as much since on either side of that awful series our batsmen did enough to show that the abject failure in Lord's was an anomaly. In 1971 we beat both WI and then #1 team Eng in their backyard. Next away tours after 1974 Eng were in NZ where we drew the series 1-1 against peak Hadlee and then the series in WI where Holding had to resort to beamers to win them the series in final test, we chased 400+ in PoS which was a WR.

Had we drawn the series in NZ 1-1 after a heroic batting show maybe we wouldn't look too much into this failure.

so you don’t see a problem with India losing crucial games and that too in a one sided manner especially when they are touted as favorites or have an advantage ?
