What sort of performance by India will cost Kohli his captaincy?

Is he safe as long as its not 4-0 England? Is there any chance he can be unseated? All the bite and venom in this team from a few weeks ago seems to have dissipated with him back at the helm.

Kohli is a GOAT Asian test captain. He has 33 test wins which is higher than any other Asian captain.

That's because the team is so good

If we lose this series, there is a chance. Note that I'm only saying its a chance. Kohli's PR via Shastri and his minions' interview with Ashwin even got him the credit for the Aus win. I won't be surprised if he still stays even after a home loss. Just a few weeks ago, we came from the dumps of adelaide (where kohli left) to win the series in fortress gabba. Do you think the same team was playing today albeit under batsmen friendly conditions and a better batting unit. Pant was shouting multiple times to lift the poor body language shown by everyone while our captain himself was showing poor body language.

A home series loss under Kohli, especially after the high of winning in Aus under Rahane, will be disastrous for Kohli personally. The fans will go bonkers on his captaincy, if they aren't already.

But Kohli will still somehow survive due to his Bollywood PR and personal batting record. It will take a World Cup loss at home to finally get rid of him.

Even then he will not quit by himself and his bhakt will be saying than in 1857 so and so captain also lost a series at home.

Getting out in the group stage of the 2023 World Cup will cost Kohli his captaincy.

That will never happen after ICC learnt from 07

Are you suggesting that Indian wins are scripted?

We won without Kohli the batsman in Australia. So clearly, Kohli as a captain brings nothing to the table.

Groups had only 4 teams back then, meaning one shock loss and you could be out. They changed that to have a larger group which gives you the chance to make up for shock losses.

yes, nothing to do with the pitch being flat or the opposition being good. all Kohli's fault.

So by your logic, if we win it is because of the team. But if we lose it is because of Kohli

TBH, I don't think it is a good thing to have one captain for all 3 formats and Kohli is not the best test captain going around.

But I don't see him being replaced, at least in tests, till a viable alternative is found, dont think Rahane is a viable long term option.

Gill / Shaw / Agarwal could be the options couple of years down the track.

He has actually under achieved with the team he has got and the current state of opposition. He would have been brutally exposed against competitive oppositions like Aus, SA, Pak, WI, SL of 90s,  early2000s

the problem with Virat is he is confused on the kind of captain he wants to be. We all know he is a typical delhi street fighter who is looking for opportunity to jump out of his car and fight with anyone who cuts his car on delhi roads. He however wants to be like Dhoni, ambassador of cricket, play in the spirit of game, sportsmanship blah blah blah all of which he isnt. He seems hell bent on behaving like one of british royals while he is a delhi thug. Oh bhai be true to yourself and you will be fine.
