It's the pink ball bro. Even in Adelaide it was low scored. 36 ring a bell. Yet no one complained ? Why?

Australia too scored 70 in the last innings whikst losing only 2 wickets. It's all mental.

Because that was 1 innings and a clear mental lapse? Both India and Australia batted almost full days in the first innings. In fact, India outscored Australia in the first innings.

Are you seriously comparing a pitch that led to 2/3 good complete innings vs a pitch that led to 0/3 good complete innings?

It's not much different though. There were tons of dropped catches from both sides especially India. Had India held on to the catches, Aussies would have crossed 120.

This pitch was made to look bad by incompetent players of spin. Nothing wrong with the pitch at all.

India scored 49 for 0 in the last innings. It's all mental. It's in your head. You need to read the ball.

The way India were batting, 200 would have been possible by midday tomorrow.

Get over this losing mentality and enjoy the win ffs. Pitch wasn’t bad, difficult yes but it was in the minds. India smoked 49 in 7 overs when the opposition scored 81 a.o. Did the pitch change in a few minutes ? No.

Scoreboard pressure is a thing. Also, they had Joe Root opening the bowling, that's how ridiculous the pitch was.

Joe Root was opening the bowling on the 2nd day of a test match and everyone thought that was the obviously right thing to do.

Credit to the India bowlers, and Axar especially, that they were able to handle the new ball so excellently. Bowling with a new ball is not easy for spinners.

WTH is up with Yuvraj tweeting stupidity criticising the pitch and suggesting that Harbhajan and Kumble might have got 800 and 1000 wickets respectively on this.
What does he gain by this ? Is he mad ? He was crap against spin anyways. Would have got a pair. He had also started talking nonsense just like his father

Insert quote of his dad saying Dhoni will have to beg

Pitch was difficult but keep in mind england were 77/2 or something and india were 90/2 as well..

So what happened after that?

I see that batsmen rarely used their feet to spinners and, when they did the returns were good.

Most of the wickets were lbw or bowled which means the ball came on quickly and that batsmen got out trying to cut, play down the wrong line or were late in sweeping.

England should have course corrected in the second innings but they failed to learn from their mistakes. So blame the batsmen .

Nothing can be done if both batting lineup produce a **** show in the first 3 innings. Lakhs of people might have bought the ticket but they can't control the skillsets of the batsmen.  Both captains have alluded to that fact as well as the impact of pink ball

Also wtf are you taking about regarding throwing away gains of Aus tour. You are unnecessarily being finicky

Cannot blame the batsmen on such a pitch where even a part timer has 5 wickets for 8 runs. If such pitches become a norm, Test cricket will lose its charm. It's not a test of skills but becomes a lottery. Call me finicky, a hater, or cynical but nothing justifies a test ending under two days.

TM has to cop the blame for forcing the curator to stop watering the pitch from 3-4 days before the start in drier warmer weather. It not just shows that the TM has no confidence in the team to win on fair pitches but also reflects poorly on our ability to produce normal spinning wickets (which we have got used to in recent years).

The only instance of two similar back to back doctored pitches I can remember is NZ 2002. And those pitches got well deserved criticism. Interestingly NZ did not win a series at home for the next 30 months. That is what playing on substandard poorly prepared pitches can result in.

The team is just enjoying the home advantage after a hard fought series abroad. They have opted for result oriented pitches as well as taken toss out of the equation. It's a gamble they have taken purely based on their superior skills under these conditions. I won't look much beyond that.

Also pink ball has had a major role in this test's outcome & it has made pitch appear "poorer" than it may be.

Lastly, players who played on the pitch have not complained as much as the viewers who somehow judged the pitch vicariously. A fact that is hard to fathom.

If we had lost inside of 2 days, hell less than that, in a foreign country I can only imagine what the level of discourse would be here.

But here we won in less than 2 days.

I'm happy that we won, but hey? A Test that lasts less than 2 days needs to be examined.

We can examine that AFTER we thrash them 3-1 and win the WTC

Don't get the big deal with the pitch.... Rohit showed how  to bat on this pitch.  Rookie Gill  naturally  failed in 1st inns simply because he is a rookie and  then showed how to bat on in the 2nd inns. Proven inadequate experienced  trio did what they  'more often than not' do. Then Pant  ...the way he plays has equal chance of failing too. Then the tail enders..  So what was wrong ?...just don't get it...
