@Vilander

It seems there is huge vaccine hesitancy in TN.

now after several news agencies picked up on this vaccines have been rushed to TN and UP. With current lockdowns in TN i dont think vaccination rates will pickup any time soon.

I called BS on this. till recent reports that there are 13 lakh doses - there were clearly pipeline issues in vaccine availability. I even shared several weekly vaccine shortage reports in this thread.

As usual BJP more interested in perception management, vaccination did not start in May 15 did it ? what was the supply for 2 months prior to that in comparison to Gujrat ? Anyways now they have vaccines up to TN to use them wisely, as more might not come from India.

Those shortages are because of poor management by state as state still had surplus vaccines which were not used.

Ravish, this is one of the very few times that you are off the mark.

The demand and (artificial shortage) for hospital beds has always been there even in non Covid times. Its just that Covid has brought it to *your* notice.

We run a manufacturing unit and by law our labour force is covered by the ESIS scheme for all health related issues for the workers and their immediate dependents. There are specific ESIS hospitals too.

There was a time when the wife of a worker had a difficult pregnancy. All the paper work was in order and the ESIS hospital refused to give a bed due to "lack of beds". We know that it's a bogus claim because we did ask around. The said hospital instead kept directing us to other hospitals which weren't covered in the scheme. Lot of time was lost in this process. The woman was finally admitted to some other hospital close to her residence and the baby had a near 15 day long incubation period. All of this was expensive for a worker to handle.

We filed an RTI to get the status of beds ( the application was done 10 days in advance, the hospital rejected the patient 2 days before the delivery) for that 15 day period. We are yet to receive a response. Or any threats.

Pleas do not tell me that there was no manufactured shortage earlier. This is how this mafia has always functioned.

First Madam, I am perfectly okay to be wrong, but journey from Ravi to Ravish is a steep one. Ravi, wannabe middle class spiritualist vegan loser and Ravi"sh" is casteist communist term that scars you more than three bouts of triple variants corona. sans "sh" works for me, TY

To your point, I dont disagree at all. Not one bit.

But for me if you are an average middle class plus family in Mumbai, perhaps not all are aware of the minute details, but you would know that there is a problem with hospitals. Now, lets even keep this hoarding of beds aside for now. You are not getting vaccinated, you are outside and travelling without mask. This virus has now spread through the whole population almost. Even if you have 5 % serious cases plus add to this the hoarding, you are in deep deep trouble. Our capacities even without the hoarding is meant for less than 0.5 % of our population at any given time. This is perhaps true for most countries.

An average Corona patient requires 12 time more oxygen than say pneumonia. Now, lets put this into perspective. This was our Chernobyl. A bomb was waiting to off and we were all laissez faire and we took pride in it. My friend from UK messaged me to check why there are 100,000 people in stadium without mask. Now which govt can save you from this.

Its lack of civic sense, its lack of awareness, its casual attitude and more than anything its apathy. I wont blame the poor so much but I do put the blame squarely on middle class and rich.

Minus of the flaws of the govts, this was still coming. There will be books written on this in coming days on what went wrong.

Karnataka lockdown extended for 2 more weeks till June 8, still about 30k cases.

While the positivity rate for the day stood at 23.91 per cent, case fatality rate (CFR) was at 1.89 per cent.

High positivity and deaths. We are not out of the woods.

It can be vaccine hesitancy OR the fear of catching covid in vaccination centre.

We don't blame authorities for us not wearing masks.

We blame them, and rightly so, for failing to provide any beds/oxygen/medicine/vaccines. We blame them for the fact that there is NO TRANSPARENCY on any of these and most people have to rely on twitter/IG to avail a bed. Or some random telegram group to know the status of vaccines in the city.

Case in point, the BMC website of beds availability was a sham when Mumbai was at 8-10k cases a day. And BMC helplines would direct you to specific private hospitals from which they would get a cut presumably.

The entire wave 2 has resulted in people having no trust in governments. Centre or State.

Not to mention declaring victory prematurely. THat is a dreadful message for public.

Yes, message is issue. But actions are not. Did you read Mariyams earlier post. How no one apart from Mizoram actually did something to prepare. Wave 1, Yes it was beaten by India way better than any country in world.

I used Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as a preventive and therapeutic medicine in the early months of the pandemic and then switched to Ivermectin, which has proved its worth if started early. Independent medical teams around the world have used these drug...

Hope it lives up to the same hype that HCQ and Remdesivir didn't.  We heard the exact same things about those also.  No robust analyses, some cohort studies of mixed strength, doctor anecdotes.   Colour me skeptical, but I hope to heck I am wrong and that this works.

Yes message from the leader is very important. You cannot claim false victories.

Problem is people recognizing "first symptom".  A mild cough can be your first symptom. But people generally ignore minor symptoms until it reaches a critical stage. Can't blame them given that many people have allergy cough frequently. In most cases COVID didn't need any treatment during the first wave. Just over the counter fever reducer/pain killers were enough. Second wave is nothing like that.  Even well educated people are not quiet sure when to get to hospital. Some get admitted needlessly. Some waited longer than they should have.  Onus is on the Indian Medical Council providing the accurate information. A reason why conspiracy theories should be rejected outright. It will throw gaslight and make everyone question about everything.

Did his message was pr-empted by HC and hence they ordered that elections in State election in Bihar must be conducted. If you recall at the time they had to shoot at Durga Puja Visarjan? And that set precedence to all state elections.

Did it change Allahabad HC order to UP gvmnt against UP gvmnt wishes that Panchayat elections must be conducted and so many teachers died.

Did that message stopped UP, Delhi or any state to build capacity like hospital beds oxygen units medicines and so on.

Bottom line is, that message was electioneering message during Bengal elections. But for blind haters of Modi, they can see how state gvmnt got power delegated to them to prepare and fight Corona  in the name of federalism and in pretext of poor workers started walking home as state govmnts like Delhi Maharashtra did not treat the migrants as their own.

States did nothing but to take the power and fail spectacularly. But they will rather just like a media briefing by Modi because their oresident or Pm does .

Even in May, they said if they get power they will get vaccines from manufacturers all iver world. Thats how bad State leaders have been. They bloody cant build a oxygen plan, You want me to trust any of those mofos who are just doing politics.

No You cannot lie about pandemic even for political reasons. He is the PM of every citizen not just those who voted for him.  Pandemic was never over.  Blaming state governments is a cop out.
