Another way to look at it is that people who reached 5 medals or less have at least 1 gold, so it's disappointing we couldn't finish on gold at least once

Form, technique, composure very important apart from other athletic attributes. 

 

Indeed there are stupid events in Olympics, but this is not one of them.

Perhaps another way to look at it is bask vicariously in the glory of our Hockey team for now. They've won after 40+ years and weren't rated for a podium finish.

 

We can get back to dissecting the data and being critical after a few days.

Last time at Rio, two of our walkers were disqualified . Thankfully no such case this time, though the timings could have been slightly better.
