I saw the highlights and I should say that I became his fan...

If he gets anything less than 10k test runs, I would be surprised...

Simply superb...

Now, he needs to work out his technique for swinging ball

Shaw was brilliant yesterday but let's not get too far ahead. Feasting on SL B attack on a flat pitch vs facing top quality test attacks will be a different challenge altogether. He has many more things to work on - first and foremost being his fitness. IF and only if he sorts that out, he can have a 10-12 year long career else the immense potential may never be fulfilled.

Absolutely. Yeh bakwas hailing him as great breath taking bandh karna chahiye. Playing against b grade lankan bowler and playing under pressure against hazelwood starc is miles apart.. we dont need to hype him like what padosis do after one good innings like they thought Ahmed shehzad is the reincarnation of hanif mohammed and javed miandad combined.. even gautam gambhir had bradmanesque form once and he was called chhota Sachin in delhi circles.. its all about fulfilling long term potentials..

His stroke play is something else.  After Sachin & Viru retired...  Some of the shots they played became extinct in Indian cricket.  The Backfoot punches,  on the up square drives & that slash over point or cover.  Shaw displayed all of that in a little inns.

Kohli has never thrilled me as a player coz I don't like his style of batting.  He was never anywhere near close to SRT in terms of ability.  Neither is Rohit btw but he is much better to watch.

Also This fascination of tons & double tons need to End.  English players don't have 30-40 tons or heck even 20-25 tons.  It's the impact that matters.

Only in SC these soft little personal achievements are celebrated.  Even if Shaw only ends up scoring 7-8k runs & India wins multiple trophies..  That's enough for us.

Shaw skill matrix

1, Ball with no lateral movement Don bradman level belt it to four.

2, Ball with bounce get hit in head and get out next ball.

3, Ball with lateral movement can't put bat to ball to safe own life.

Rohit 2.0

Mostly in Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar, sunil Gavaskar, sanjay Manjrekar all of them put personal achievements ahead habitually.. May be mumbaikar phenomena.

We have many like Shaw who can feast on bowlers on flat SC wickets... if they can score runs in Eng/NZ or Aus thats the litmus test. Scoring runs against N grade Lankan team doesnt require chest thumping by fans- let him settle into the indian team fiorst Test or LoI, then lets talk about 10K runs... before that you just sound like a maha chewtiya

Rohit 0.5 is still fine for us. At least for home matches. The wayward form we are seeing even in home matches by pujara kohli rahane i would gladly have him play like rohit does at home to be honest!

Rohit is not only the best player of pace and bounce in India but probably one of the best in the world when it comes to short pitch bowling . That’s not even a troll because I haven’t highlighted the  other points because that may be a point of contention but no way this point.

With a hint of lateral movement Rohit will dance like disco shanti.

Shaw with his ability can massacre pretty much most teams in world cricket right now apart from 2-3 . Many will say even others can , well no ...the way he will destroy no one wud.

He might get problem against cummins, archer, wood, boult, henry , Hazelwood, Afridi but that to is a might. In LOI, on many days these guys can be handled due to flat decks , many times these team play their A side bowlers in Bilateral series. Stick with him , he ll get better with time.

Remember even Rohit, Dhawan struggled in 1st tour of SA n NZ in white ball cricket.

How many of these people are going to call for his head when he is cleaned up by the likes on Andersen and broad in the second  test match … he will be called to England for the second test …

Exactly..  People forget how many years it took Rohit to improve his skills.  2023 WC is in India & we need a player like him to take on the bowling.  Also transition phase needs to get started now.
