Still better to bring young players then keep playing fading oldies who are not going to improve. These guys have averaged 25 since 2020 and aren't getting younger. Better to fail with youngsters who will improve with experience.

 

At least, needs to replace Rahane and Pujara With Gill and Eshwaran. Need to bring Sarfaraz Khan in the scheme of things too. Coming Ranji season will give us more options.

Players like Pujara and Rahane are 1 format players, this results in them being out of form, rusty due to lack of cricket. Being out of form in your 30's is a recipe for disaster.

 

The reason a player plays all formats is due to the quality and skill level of player. Hence India should be picking players who can play all formats, as by definition they are more skilled than single format players. (In the modern era).

 

A great example of this is Rohit Sharma, most people on ICF made fun of his test credentials

apart from a few backers on ICF, now we can clearly see who can actually play, the cream always rises to the top as they say.

 

Going forward after England Tour, the batting line should be something like this:

 

Rohit

KL

Gill

Kohli

SKY (worth a try)

Pant 

 

Reserves:

 

Shaw

Vihari

Agarwal

well  said .... I have been expressing this opinion for some time now.. cricket is  lot lot more a 'momentum  & mental' game in general. This is where  'all format', ' equal mix of left-right combo', ' equal mix of  youth-experience combo' comes into play. The more   'TOP 7 with such qualities'  the more chances of  batting line up putting more runs in general.

I can guarantee if you give equal chances to shaw, his average willl be better than both of them(rahane and pujara) after same number of matches

Maha Chutiya Aadmi hai ye Gavaskar. BC pant, Jadeja, Rohit, Rahul  all are scoring consistently barring Trimurti.

Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer...these are the best test batting prospects at the moment. I dont think Prithvi Shaw will make it with his current technique and temperament as a test batsman.

if pujara scores less than 25 in the second Innings , he is definitely not playing the next TEST.

 

i feel because Rahane is the vice captain , they will play him in the next test.

 

if i was KOHLI, i would have dropped Both as i feel SUrya/Hanuma are waiting to replace rahane and mayank/prithvi are read to replace Pujara.

 

See we are supposed to play the batsman in form..surya ,Mayank and Prithvi are the Batsman in form....Pujara is now not an asset to indian team.
