That was him before 2018. Now he is not good enough even for a customary century every two series. Did not get one fifty in England, gave selectors many reasons to drop him. But if they keep giving him chances after chances...

I hope this che****a goes back to domestics and faces extreme humiliation by young bowlers.   And never returns to our main team.

It is sad to see Rahane cop so much verbal abuse from cricket fans.  He has been a successful international test batsman, a good captain who led India to epochal wins and, from all accounts, a really good team-mate.  But, while he does not deserve this level of derision on the internet, he is himself responsible for the legitimate criticisms that come his way.  As an international athlete, unwavering self-belief is extremely important of course, but it can be a double-edged sword that leads you to talk yourself into: "I can fix this.  One more innings is all I need. I was timing the ball so well."  

 

I wish he had bid goodbye on a high note right after the 2020-21 Australia series and left a legacy of great success rather than this bitter taste.

 

Regardless of anything else, I will remember and appreciate him for his graceful batting when he was in form and for the 3-test miracle leadership.

once rahane plays 100 tests (it's gonna happen since Brat won't drop him), he will be one of the worst batters to have played 100 tests. likes of carl hooper, etc. may have lower avgs, but they offered other skills. Rahane's avg after 100 tests may go below atherton, etc.
