Also Covid in England is not as severe as other parts of the world as majority of people are double vaccinated. If all players tested negative then they should have played match.

that is the crux of it for now, all this attempt to apportion blame and do root cause analysis is just rationalizing after that fact. People have come to accept the risks in England at least is what I've come to understand which is why most things have opened now and crowds are attending PL games too.

As per UK guidance if you are double vaccinated which I assume both sets of players are, then unless you are showing symptoms or have a positive test then you don’t have to isolate. The Indian players have pussied out and put the IPL above the test match and said we won’t play just in case we have infections.

 

don’t be under any illusions the BCCI cares about international cricket above the IPL. The fairest outcome is cancel the test. End the series 2-1 and pay ECB the lost revenue and then prepare for IPL as an how you see fit.

A simple clear notification that

 

due to an indian team support staff having detected with covid has led to some indian players quarantining. This has led to the unavailability of full squad. In view of this the current match is being cancelled. The series stands at 2-1. Next year in July India team will be coming to England to play 6 LOI matches. The test will be scheduled during that visit and that will lead to the completion of the series.Dates will be confirmed at a later date. We are really sorry for the inconvenience. The ticket holders will be refunded but will get first choice when booking next year. 
 

if this is pasted in ecb and bcci website all will be clear and stakeholders happy. Its a pathetfic communication cock up which has led to these chaos..
