zen Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) My favorite Indian cricketer for a) talent, b) fearless attitude, c) multiple skills (when fully fit). A thread for his fans! He got injured in the last game so do not know the status but if he plays, I want him to bat during the middle overs to take on 4th-5th-6th bowlers. I do not want Ind to milk this period of play to rely heavily on death overs, which can be a lottery. SDP's job should be to go for big hits fearlessly without worrying about getting out. If he gets out, it is ok as other batsmen can play out the 20 overs by getting odd hits in. SDP should be the game changer and momentum creator. Apart from that I want every Indian batsmen to press on full throttle once they have played 20 balls (earlier the better). Many times, we see some of the batsmen continue to milk the bowling even after playing 30-40 balls (and even when 4th-5th-6th bowlers are on), only opening up later on (and even get out as soon as they change gears despite playing so many balls) and at times the hitting is left to the point when there is no other option. I also read many posts where people expect a new batsman to play as if he has played 10-20 balls and has time to wait for loose balls. Batting at the death, if you wait, the game could get over before you know. You have to make things happen. You cannot play like a Rohit/Kohli for example where you do tuk tuk for 19 balls to be 19 off 19 and when a short ball is bowled, you hit it for a 6 to be 25 off 20 (that is not T20s unless the conditions demand that). Then rinse and repeat. At the end (or any time in T20s), you need to create opportunities even on balls that are difficult to hit. Sir Don Pandya, go out and play the most fearless cricket that you can play. Ind make something out of the tournament or go out in style entertaining fans: Edited October 25, 2021 by zen RajBan, New guy, beetle and 1 other 4

asterix Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 I want this Drama Queen to be seen no where near to the Indian team. There are players who played matches for India with broken jaws. Not like this attention seeker who “shows” pain right at the end when he knows India us struggling and will need his bowling. Chickens out at the right moment and leaves the team to fend off in a crucial match. Play any player in his place. Be it Shardul or Venkatesh Iyer (draft him in ASAP and send this Pandya Drama Queen to Amdabad to focus on the next IPL season). Shardul or Iyer would give more than 100% to the team even if injured. Both Pandya Bros shouldn’t be allowed near Team India and let them focus on IPL. . RedFever, Cricspin, Mariyam and 5 others 4 2 2

Just read reports which say that he is good to go. A precautionary scan was done and he should be available Expected to bowl too if Ind makes it to KOs. If Ind loses to NZ, it makes more sense to play him v other teams, allowing him to get back to his best and gain more experience considering the next world cup is in Aus in 2022 where pitches would suit is style even more.

If that half fit faker plays against NZ, he’ll screw up the scoring and won’t bowl too. Kohli won’t take the risk of playing this Drama Queen… maniac 1

At this point, SDP is likely to play v NZ. If Ind wins v NZ, the team would want SDP at his best in case it makes it to KOs. If it loses, makes more sense to play not just SDP but other young players like Kishan to allow them to gain more world cup experience v lesser teams.

Kohli won’t take the risk of playing this Drama Queen… How would SDP screw up the scoring? The guy actually tries to make the most of every ball rather than taking singles to just get to some score. His inning made it possible for India to get to 150. Had the highest SR for Ind in the game and that too without getting time to get his eye in. Only one to hit boundaries in the last 2 overs iirc.

ash Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Hope he proves me wrong, but I think this guy is done. Teams have figured out that bowling short of length at a good pace is his weakness. Without his bowling, becomes a liability. Needs to rediscover his game.

See this is what make people hate him, when you nake brain dead comparison like this. How can you compare strike rate in last 2 overs with when kohli working at 2 down and compare strike rate in an innings where he scored barely 11? This Is khota level of mental gymnastics I am glad that you made this post as it gives me the opportunity to expand on SRs. When you bat in the last few overs for a few balls without getting your eye in, there are chances of ending up with a lower SR. For e.g, you come in with 10 balls to go and you want to maximize the 10 balls, you could get an un-hittable yorker one ball, next ball could be a wide yorker. Now there are only 8 balls to go. You may get a ball that is slightly off the line to hit it for 4. Next ball you could get out in going for a 6 (time is running out). Your SR is 100. A batsmen batting up has more chances to pick and chose the balls to hit. Wait for a lesser bowler to come on and so on. Which is why I mentioned balls, the more balls you play, the higher your SR should be. Yes, at times, you may have to consolidate but if you go above 20 balls, less reasons to end up with a low SR. Many times ppl will say - “oh Kohli has a SR of 140 and SDP also has a SR of 140 too, so how is SDP a better hitter?” (When I read such comments my reaction is usually that there is no point in playing a flute in front of a buffalo). When the answer can easily be found in the number of balls played. Kohli plays far more balls than SDP. To get to that (or even an acceptable) SR, Kohli needs to play a lot more balls, automatically showing who is the better at getting off the blocks quickly, a valuable trait in T20s. Nah, 99% of timds last 2 overs will always have a higher strike rate as you are throwing the kitchen sink. There is no attempt to get "eye" in. Which is why even taileenders have higher stroke rate then And looking at strike for 11 runs through edges is pathetic, its not a hugh enough score for that What next, a 2 ball 4 is 200 strike rate innings? express bowling and coffee_rules 2
