I think Bhuvi at that time probably made sense lol. But picking him after witnessing his 125k pies in the IPL was a cardinal sin. I have no problem with knuckle balls as long as your top speed is in excess of 140k atleast. If you r top speed is 125k and your knuckle ball is 120k then it is not a knuckle ball it is a buffet ball.

Bhuvi was not the problem yesterday.

Bhuvi and Shami combined were the problem. To say bhuvi was not the problem  is criminal. The guy is bowling in early 120s. See trundlers are gonna get smashed. Pakistan had only one that is Hasan ali and he was the reason we atleast reached 150. I am not a speed gun fanatic but for a strike bowler to bowl in 120s is lolworthy. Atleast bowl in 130s nobody's  asking for express pace.

Mohit was not a trundler, bowled around 135kph to 140kph range.

Mcgrath can bowl 120s and it would like thunderbolts while I have seen 140s from Bhuvi and Shardul look easy peasy.

I agree, bhuvi has regressed and it was evident in the sl series, I had done a post earlier a few weeks back on how all our pacers have lost out on pace and how Pak still have better younger pacers coming through, I was mocked, called names, some even called me a Pakistan lol but it is the truth, our pacers yesterday were pathetic, no zip at all, this is why it's important to pick bowlers on potential not just on stats, tyagi, Siraj, prasidh should all be picked straight after the world not harshal, natarajan, chahar types, hopefully sense prevails because shami, ishant, Umesh will not carry on for ever.

The infuriating part is, Bhuvi was trundling in the IPL as well.  He was picked purely based on the "reputation" (if any).

Its a crime to not have picked Siraj.

 

Tyagi, Prasidh, Umran should be backed.

 

Someone like Arshdeep would have fought a lot better.

Bhuvi was effective till the home series against Eng in March 2021.   He was the reason we successfully defended 315 against Eng in the final odi.   But don't know how come he regressed so fast after that.

IPL should be a negative filter. If you perform well in IPL, you are under consideration. If you perform like **** in IPL, you are automatically out of National team.

 

Hope the selectors adopt this policy. 

 

But looking at the culture of "seniority" and "bade bhaai" attitude in our team, this is never going to happen.

I have been saying for a long time that we are not doing enough to develop and bring to the fore the next gen of 140 k+ pacers after Shami ( 2013 ) and Bumrah ( 2016 ).

Ishant is done. Shami and Umesh are in decline.

 

Siraj, Prasidh and Umran must be the next 3 targets for development and inclusion in white ball cricket.

Tyagi's action is so easy to pick up now, he looked like a potent threat in the u19 world cup not anymore, prasidh well I thought he bowled well in his first odi series but has lost out on some 4-5kph of pace this year, bowls one short ball to many and has no plan B, well saini has regressed so much it's unbelievable, by now he should have been bowling 150kph consistently with his action, he has great abs but sadly not bowling fit, shardul has gone from 136-140kpb to 130kph within a year and that is due to his waist line, he has put on a lot of fat since the ipl covid break, we are basically left with Siraj who has improved leaps and bounds but the rest are just not good enough, we sae how average porel was in the ipl, bharat Arun will soon leave and am afraid trundler brigade will may get a look in.

Looks like there is no one to manage the pre-Team India quick bowlers.

 

There should be someone in charge who monitors the development of the next gen 140 k+ quicks. 

 

But not happening.

 

Saini split his finger webbing during the 2020 IPL and from there his decline started. He was having back spasms on the eve of the first ODI in Australia in late 2020, but was made to play 2 ODIs despite this which probably aggravated his injury. 

 

His fitness was not managed properly and we lost out on a 150 k pacer just like that. 

 

Shardul is looking so unfit.

 

I would really like to know why Prasidh is bowling a bit slower at only age 25. 

 

And the promising U19 pacers like Mavi, Nagarkoti and Tyagi are all going downhill.
