I doubt he'll be picked up considering his stand and the fact that the Indian board is supporting the stand of taking the knee

proves that Indian board ke dimaag ghutnon ke neeche hain.

Stupidity why would he bring this upon himself there is no scenario in this where he comes out on top. Stupidity he should just apologize and confirm his unwavering commitment against racism and be done with it.

Excerpts from the article:

Quote

Zama earlier told SEN Breakfast the board’s decision to make the display mandatory came without any previous discussion with the players.

“From my conversations with him (de Kock) before, he sees it as a token gesture which has been watered down to almost mean nothing. It’s something that you have to do to be seen to be doing the right thing,” he said.

“His preference is to actually do the right thing, which he does in the way that he lives, the way that he interacts, and the way that he treats people of all races.

“It’s the token gesture for him that’s the issue.

“I’ll qualify it by saying Quinton de Kock, if you’re asking me if he’s racist or against Black Lives Matter, I’ll unequivocally say no because I know him personally.

“I know the work that he’s done to improve the lives and experiences of black players and black people around him for years and years, long before Black Lives Matter was a trend on social media.”

If that is indeed the reason , I agree to that.  But he could have still taken the knee just to send the message across to show his solidarity

Ah , I hate explaining things in too many words..

"But he could have still taken the knee just to send the message"     -    If I do not agree with taking a knee - sitting on my couch at home - I could definitely not take the knee and wouldn't make any difference to anyone .

If a celebrity/Athlete/CEO - anyone who's worth something to someone does that - it can send quite a polarizing message.  Quinton being a South African and knowing the history of that country and having people of color as his team mates could have STILL taken the knee and explained why people's behavior needs to show the change rather than just a token gesture -   but the gesture in itself can show Solidarity to many who he cannot come across personally and would still question his reasoning.  At the stature where he is - Actions can speak louder than words .  Doing a "token" gesture can still play a much more unifying role at times rather than not doing anything at all....... He could still walk the streets of Durban with a placard in his hands and make a difference on the streets while also standing with the masses -  as hard it is to believe - those two can be done together as well - not mutually exclusive

He is well within his rights to refuse it.

However cricketers do all kinds of things for a commercials to send different types of messages. When Kohli advertises Lux, does he really believe that this soap makes you dance and sing. They do it because they are paid for it. I am not sure if it's same for QDK or not.

Not that I will do everything my employer says, if my employer asked me to take a knee even as token gesture for a country which was under Apartheid, I would have done it.

Then again, it's his choice. SA board should have consulted players before passing it as mandate.

Going by Bavuma's reaction, safe to say QDK has played his last match for SA. Will become a freelancer like AV, FAF and Morris and play the T20 leagues now

However, there could be a scenario where BCCI, now suddenly waking up to support the BLM movement and asking the Indian team to take the knee, asks IPL franchises to do the same (will be hypocrisy if it doesn't) before every IPL match.

Will QDK refuse to do so for Mumbai Indians as well?

Stupid of De Kock not to take the knee...Its just a symbolic gesture against racism , so whats the problem ? Just take the knee for BLM, and take the knee again for white folks, take the knee for brown folks. that completes everyone..Why is making this big fuss?

IMO once or twice is okay but doing it before every match is overkill, that too as a mandatory act. In the US, Colin Kaepernick of the NFL league was the first or among the first to take the knee during the playing of the National anthem. Now, taking  the knee has become like the national anthem, making it full circle!

QDK will now take the knee in the remaining matches!

Good he saw this was an exercise in futility.

Eventually losing job over such matter isn't right.
