Batting

Nothing much to write here

Bowling

v NZ 1.3 overs, 17 runs

v AFG 3 overs, 31 runs

I am not sure if he would play another world cup for India. I hope that he picks up his game.

As I mentioned in the other thread, looks very ordinary since the IPL final where he started to leak runs. May need a break given the non-stop cricket he has been part of.

He wasn't given enough opportunity, only a Pandya fan would dismiss Lord after just two matches.

All hail the Lord.

Atleast he is now a permanent member of the test squad (the most important format) while some other fakers are yet to make any mark in it.

Shardul is the modern day Robin Singh of the Indian Cricket Team, though he has already played more tests than Robin ever did

He knows his limitations, but compensates with over confidence

The problem is that he is not the replacement for a player like Hardik Pandya that India is looking for.

India may not get another Kapil Dev, so why not explore the Spin All rounder option and groom someone who can play consistently for the Team in times to come

Sundar/Axar/??

Still he is much better match winner than fraud Pandya. He was part of 2 historic test series win and also performed on those. What did Pandua do scoring some cheap runs in biletral or minow bashing. Give 6 year time non Stop chance to lord and he ll leave pandu to dust across format. To start off with atleast he is not a fraud alrounder.

Don't blame him.. He has always been a mediocre bowler whose only utility is of a bowling all rounder in Overseas tests. I blame the public for overhyping the Lord Meme and forcing him to be selected over deserving players like Axar.

Well again case of mixing formats. He can tonk a few in LOIs but his utility in batting is restricted to test format only..He wasn't in primary squad so don't blame him, last minute addition. Whould have preferred D chahar over him. Still no hate for him,the guy has done well whatever limited opportunities he has got

I have been following Ind since 1987. Below are some of the competitive multi skills bowlers that I have seen:

Chetan Sharma - took a hat trick in 1987 WC and scored a 100 v Eng in 1989 Nehru Cup

Prabhakar - opened the batting and bowling for India

Agarkar - liked his batting in LOIs. Scored a 100 in tests as well. However, ridiculed mostly for his ducks in Aus

I have not seen such an ordinary performance by any Indian multi skilled bowler as Thakur’s in this World Cup :((

Is a weak fielder where if a catch goes to him, you would feel that he would drop it. Batting can be a 50/50 as he bats lower down. As one of the key bowlers, should attempt to at least bowl a few good overs if nothing else.

Have been a Thakur fan since his Test exploits but he must not play the next couple of games,we dont need his batting cover against the minnows but we badly need a wicket taking bowler..hopefully not Bhuvi
