Close on the heels of Rohit Sharma's appointment as India's new T20I captain, it is being heard that the BCCI top brass is going to have a conversation with Virat Kohli about the future of his captaincy in one-day internationals. Sources in the BCCI told NDTV that the board wants to relieve Kohli of the captaincy burden in limited-overs cricket so that he can focus on his batting and return to his dominant form. The sources further informed NDTV that the changes in Team India's ODI captaincy could be as soon as the bilateral series against South Africa, which begins from January 11, 2022. Rohit Sharma is expected to take over in the 50-over format too, with KL Rahul as his deputy.

We need a captain with fresh ideas. Should have been sacked long back. You have to make an assessment whether Kohli is capable of lifting an ICC trophy. Unanimous answer is going to be no. Never won anything for his franchise team. Never won anything for India. I can forgive TC final as we are doing better overall. He can keep that captaincy. But in LOIs he should have been let go long back.

Why not talk about his Test captaincy also? He hasn't done much to qualify for selection as a batsman, let alone captain of the side.

According to some unconfirmed news reports, Kohli's test captaincy is also under discussion. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are front runners if he is thrown out of test captaincy too.

Means some random sources that no one can believe.

Need to groom Shreyas Iyer for #4 and captain. Don't want Pant as captain.

I personally think Pant will be a better captain, iyer is the same conservative process with zero instinctive decisions

However it is sad they cannot even make a young guy vice captain. This was perfect time to make a young captain,  no matter who. But not even making a young guy vice captain to groom him is disappointing

Anyone but Kohli for Indian captain. Get Dhawan as captain but not Kohli please. Once Kohli is not the captain, the captaincy issue can be sorted in a few months time.

Isnt Pant rested from NZ T20?  Surely he is the incumbent and all others are temporary

Who looks to be captaincy material. I found none of them, all players are sissy, and some of them even not confirmed in playing xi. However Rahul should not be captain as he always looks under extreme pressure and once he will be captain he will play even more slowly like rohit and kohli does. Having said that finding a right guy for captaincy seems difficult at this time for time being Rohit can take it but very soon we have to identify a long term captain but he should have attitude like B-Mac or Morgan especially in LOI. Who can instill the confidence of playing aggressive cricket and not stats padding cricket.

Pant is our best bet to be honest. Ashwin for tests is mentally tough but he is old now.

We could go for rohit temporarily in LOI.

Only aggressive batsman in our team is Hardik Pandya. But he doesn't seem an intelligent guy to handle captaincy.
