Kohli dont even deserve a place in the team as a batsman, let alone captain

This is ridiculous, what has Rahul done to deserve captaincy.Rahul should not even be VC for this tour but this middle order stinks.Rahul and Rohit are one flop show away from getting kicked out of the team. Don't make them as some stand out players.

 

I agree Kohli does not merit a place in the team.GIll VC for what for getting exposed with his technical weakness. The only guy who can be captain long term is Pant but he has do more first.

You said all the right things except that last line. Pant does not have the maturity to be captain, nor he is consistent enough notwithstanding his glorious knocks in last 1 year.

Selectors should not pick him for the ODI leg of this tour and instead ask him to go back to FC cricket. His elephantine ego needs to be crushed by forcing him to play domestic cricket which he hasn't done for years.

 

Ranji Trophy starts from 13th Jan. If he fails even there, sack him for good. Indian cricket cannot remain beholden to these superstars.

Watching various sports you know when a sportsman is in decline. Kohli has endured three years of failure, not just a gentle fall but his run-scoring has fallen off a cliff suggesting it is terminal.

 

Highly unlikely that he can bounce back or regain form as he makes so many basic errors. Hence no century for three years.

 

He is effectively done as an international cricketer. There is no way back.

The sad thing  is that this was known 3 years ago, yet he has still been in the team.

 

India can be a lot stronger when they remove Kohli, Rahane and Pujara from the team.

Who are we to decide people's maturity.Do you know Pant personally to make the judgment.Maturity is very overrated.  Player needs to merit a place in the team first.Only player as of now who merits his place is Pant. A captain needs to have trust from the team and somewhat composed in his decisions. The guy does not yet have the command or personality to captain other senior players in the team. Pant has not developed those qualities yet. You may argue that Kohli was also impulsive when he started , but he piggybacked on Dhoni and given his performance as a batsman his position was rock solid.

 

The way Pant plays his innings at the start, he is always in a rush, mistiming his shots frequently that does not allow him to be a consistent enough batsman yet. Test allows him to settle down after sometime but LOIs does not and that's the reason why he has not performed well in LoIs since his first class days.

fat chance he is going to change his game now when at his best he scored runs despite it. Forget ego, at an advanced age it is not even that feasible to make big changes to the way you play. Especially when you think it helped you score a heap of runs previously. Hard hands with a front foot press and not knowing where off stump is was an issue even previously.

He is probably going to average under 50 by the time this series ends.

Those things can be learnt on the job. As you grow older, you gain experience to become composed and handle different situations.No one is born mature.

You point is ridiculous, Pant even after playing 100 test will stay same batsman. Pant is the best test batting wicket keeper ever to emerge from India and it is not even close.

He has his own way of scoring runs, he will be just fine.like any other player he will have good days and bad days.

He is in team because he is captain. It has been prooven both home and away that there are players who have done better as skipper with same team without GOAT kohli
