Well, you must remember because the craze of cricket is so unprecedented in India, that is the reason why BCCI is the most powerful board and the Indian cricketers have such high profile life and earn such huge money. So, Kohli or any other Indian cricketer is earning huge moolahs also is because of we fans devoting so much of our time in watching the game on stadium, TV sets and anywhere. If we don't watch cricket, their salaries will take a hit. It works both ways. Luckily at the moment, cricket has no competition from any other sport in India. In contrast, South African or Kiwi cricketers don't earn such huge moolah and their fans could care least about who is retiring and when. Simple. Edited December 30, 2021 by Majestic
