zen Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Link Quote India’s head coach Rahul Dravid had no hesitation in admitting that the ODI squad lacked balance with the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja unavailable to execute their all-round skills at numbers six and seven respectively. “I think if you are a little bit honest, some of the guys who help us balance the squad out and give us those all-round options at Nos 6, 7 and 8 are probably not here, and available for selection,” Dravid said, clearly talking about the absence of Pandya, who is trying to get his bowling fitness back and Jadeja, who is recuperating from a knee injury. “Hopefully, when they (Hardik and Jadeja) come back, it will give us lot more depth, it allows us then to probably play in a slightly different style,” Dravid made it clear as to what he missed in the series. While India has tons of top order (#1-3) options, likes of SDP are irreplaceable ... But SDP, don't rush back and focus on IPL. If he does well, likely to be captain of India in the next 24 or so months!! Banton, cricketfan28, ABDfan and 1 other 1 3

vvvslaxman Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Does Rahul know Pandu was kicked out for a reason lol He sounds like we lost him "unfortunately". Atleast Jadeja is understandable. anish2tweet, raki05 and SandeepMotta 1 2

mishra Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I think Chahar should be selected. He bats well and has ability to seam ball both ways at will. With him in team, we could potentially have bats till number 9. That will give massive freedom to our top five bats wanted_desi and raki05 2
kosingh Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Rohit has not played an overseas ODI since August 2019. Right, we are still missing Rohit. Heck, let's make him captain. Maybe Dravid could have said we are missing Tendulkar. Clarke, mishra and raki05 3
Popular Post IndianRenegade Posted January 24, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2022 Exactly what was achieved in the SA tour in preparation for WC? wasted couple of matches with Bhuvi who will only continue to regress instead to giving Siraj & Krishna time in middle. Why did Jayant Yadav who will definitely not be in the scheme of things for WC get a game? What happens if Dhawan or Rohit get injured during WC? Instead of grooming a back up opener, we sent KL to the top destabilizing the middle order so the oldies could feel secure of their top order position. We have the wrong priorities as a team - secure positions for seniors as much as possible - we are bound to achieve nothing with this mindset. mishra, Vijy, Laaloo and 7 others 10

At least the other two will give you 10 overs & bat decently, SDPwill not show up all together except may be in IPL. raki05 and mishra 2
mishra Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 ^ Both Thakur and Chahar have been positives for the series along with Sky. If i was selector, i would pick all three in Australia. Assuming Bhumrah Pant Rohit Dhawan Gill and kohli are in the team, we should now induct Sundar. Also we should look for immediate replacement of Kohli. May be replace Kohli with KL. Give a specialist spinner like Axar and another pacer to support bowling line up. That should do. raki05 and Lord 1 1

Chahar will take wickets with new ball in most matches. Thakur will find couple of magical deliveries in middle overs. That in itself negates by miles anything special SDP brings in batting strike rate raki05 1
Vijy Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 what next from dravid? will he also rue the absence of SRT from the team? If so, get that Old Man a bat and have him play. cannot be worse than some of our middle order hacks. raki05, BacktoCricaddict, express bowling and 2 others 1 4

Not evey keeper understands relationships between bat movement and spinning ball.
SandeepMotta Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Dravid seems clueless with each passing day . This very likely will end badly for everyone . express bowling, raki05 and Vijy 3
BacktoCricaddict Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) It is a backhanded slap on the face of the team that actually played when their coach says "we wish we had X or Y because ... ya know ... the A B and C who played are not up to snuff." Way to motivate your boys, coach!! Say what you may about his beer belly and his tactical deficiencies (personally, I think we fans are not qualified to make this criticism in the first place, but whatever), one thing RJS did very well was prop up his team in public. He shielded them from fan-criticism. That's what a coach does. Edited January 24, 2022 by BacktoCricaddict Vijy, vvvslaxman, raki05 and 2 others 2 3
