Virender Sehwag said that if the management has made a gamble on Dinesh Karthik, then they should've stuck with him for the entire tournament. India played Rishabh Pant in their final group match against Zimbabwe.

Hussain said India did the right thing bringing Pant back....  Chappell said it's crazy they are not playing Pant over DK...  Hafeez said the same too.

Pant has the fear factor which DK doesn't have. If you have Pant in the crease, teams will plan against him while for DK, no one is gonna waste a lot of time planning against him.

Actually India made cardinal mistake of dropping DK down the order in the 2nd innings and pushing Viru up the order.  Viru was in hopeless form. They saw his 40 they thought he was back in form.

Once they retire they start talking about prehistoric cricket,even the likes of Kela who is from current gen believes SR is overrated in t20s ,90% of current cricketers are also like this

This has to change at some point,Seniority over ability is curse for Indian cricket

Pakistan are doing fab job with their recent selections are and they have certainly gone ahead,they understand value of time  from the LOI context

Sehwag has actually said many times in cricbuzz show that Pant should have been in the XI from first match. He even said that Pant has good experience of scoring runs in Aus and Kartik doesn't have any.

He just said that making changes at this stage makes management people look confused.

Mentally weak Karthik is hardly a Gilchrist to get all worked up about. He's not even a Brad Haddin. 

 

In fact Pappu Patel has had more of an impact in T20s...

Guys like Sehwag forget about one thing. Which is the primary job of these guys. DK and Pant. I don't advocate Pant replacing DK for his batting.  I advocate Pant replacing DK for his keeping. India simply cannot afford to have missed stumpings/missed direct hits/dropped catches. As far as batting goes both are more or less the same.  Whatever Pant or DK score can be considered a bonus. First we have to get the basics right.

DK had chances to become a hero in this WC and that too based on his skill. He has not taken them. Some good stops , dropped catches and missed run outs.

 

He is looking like someone who wanted to have attendance this WC.

Skills hai iske paas, even Kela...but mental fortitude bhi chahiye is level pe. Far lesser cricketers defeated some legendary teams to win 1983 WC and 1985 WCC. What did Yogi Berra say about the mental part of sports....always thought ki zyada fek raha tha, but more in agreement as time passes.
