Texan
Well, only the 5th day will tell. But in my opinion, it is one risk too many here. Based on the runs scored, it appears the wicket is a batting highway. They should have gotten another 40-50 runs. With the way they were scoring, that would have meant playing another 5-6 overs, which would have been wiser to do. England scored over 900 runs in this game. If they end up losing, it will probably be a first. nevada 1 Link to comment

ipl is fun
I would say smart.. We have almost 2 pages worth discussing it Getting some of us to watch the match even though India is not playing. Link to comment
jalebi_bhai
Smart. Eng have little to lose as they are not in contention for WTC. Yesterday's play didn't even last 80 overs so they used the declaration as an incentive to make Pak chase a result. They are not afraid to lose to get an unlikely win. Link to comment
Norman
They don't care. With the world Cup on, no one in England would even be aware of this series. Even their most ardent test supporters would have been getting ready to watch England vs Senegal while Brook was playing a T20 knock yesterday. They can lose 3-0 and no one will bat an eye back home. They may as well take some risks and be positive. Link to comment
nevada
Did Paxtan choke or did the English bowlers do a great job or did the pitch start breaking up? England is just one wicket away from a win now! Yesterday I thought they erred by not batting 1 more hour for another 60-70 runs but it looks like they timed it perfectly. Link to comment
Clarke
I'd say badass, a lion hearted effort to win this game nevada 1 Link to comment
javier26
Smart and brave decision but difficult for Kohli and Dhoni captaincy worshippers to understand, who have been slating Stokes for the last couple of days. Vijy and Pollack 2 Link to comment

Vijy
Eng may not be the "best" test team in World cricket right now, but they are arguably the most interesting & exciting. Link to comment

putrevus
Hats off to Stokes the captain. He risked loss to get a win. England deserve this win and more. It would have been interesting to see reactions from media if England lost the test but to pull off a win on that surface is really something special. nevada 1 Link to comment
Adamant
Ben stokes should give credit to Kohli as it is clearly visible that he got this idea by watching the GOAT ASIAN TEST CAPTAIN. Bigg Brother, sarcastic and Lord 3 Link to comment
ThirtyD.
There you have it. No other way to promote and maintain health of Test cricket other than cricket like this. It could’ve easily turned into a borefest with everyone looking to rake easy runs. Dravid and co. will not even think of such a declaration because 1) we don’t have the bowlers for it 2) we haven’t inbred such a mindset in our domestic setup 3) everyone plays for their position Link to comment
