A team that is no.1 in all formats, he himself is a legend of the game but he talks like he runs a minnow team with crap like we have no options, believe in process etc

recent gem is we don’t have a 6’4 left arm pacer.

what kind of dumb attitude is that? Sure we may or may not have a ready made available quality left armer of Starc or Shaheen but I am sure there is enough talent pool out there for him to not make such meek statements.

Every day my respect for my Childhood and adult life cricket villian Shastri increases. I guess I like drunk bravado more than meek behavior ;)

for context refer to the article

what is meek in it? In fact Dravid against his persona, was combative in that he asked the reporter to identify a left arm bowler.

Very few 6.4 left arm pacers have had a longish career ... Brett Schultz, Bruce Reid and even Marco Jansen have had start stop careers

Dravid’s top of the mind recall list has the trundler Arshdeep, while there is no mention of likes of Moshin!

Mohsin has been mostly injured after IPL

the difference is someone like Kohli or Pandya are posers but it is just an extension of their personality.

Dravid tries too hard to be that boy next door middle class guy when he is not and it angers me :)

Was asked about left arm pace specifically and he's right. Also said left right doesnt matter as much as quality.

What's so wrong or 'meek' in this.

What'd have fearless Shastri replied to it?

Why is he asking or fighting with journalists on that? Why should they give him names . He is the coach isn’t he?

how difficult is it to say we have some exciting upcoming talent  and soon we will check all boxes once they are ready. There you go. As simple as that.

now it has become headline that “Dravid says India doesn’t have bowlers of Afridi or Starc’s quality. “ Even in the past he said Pakistan fast bowlers are sexy. To a small extent as a phaasht bowling fan he is right especially in T20 format compared to the trundlers he seems to love but it is dumb to say that in Pc. He might get that adorable and awww so cute comments from his fans but I totally reject this attitude :)

he said that Pak pacers are sexy (i.e. good to watch) but Indian bowlers are more effective.

Thats meek for you ...

Its the selectors job to identify the potential bowlers and the role of the A-team coach to mould them ...

Yes it is passive aggressive which is equal to meek.

also wasn’t RD the a team and u-19 coach himself?

so he is saying all this  years in that role   he hasn’t seen  exciting fast bowling prospects?

Why give Masala with such dumb statements. At least Shastri used to give chest thumping statements that everyone knew were bs.

So basically what he said translates to  that chick is much sexier  but my  wife/gf is not that bad because she takes care  of  household chores.

once could be a slip of tounge but don’t need fake modesty.

Neither Sashtri was a good coach not Dravid is. Ind team needs a full-time qualified coach.

Sashtri was and has been the rescue man for BCCI be it Ball tempering in SA or 2007 WC debacle or Kumble Vs Kolhi fallout. He was the one who brought everything in order.

Dravid may have been a good man behind the curtains or hard-worker but he was never a good leader he tries and experiments without much thought processes behind those. he did samething before Wc2007 and then Ind was left with no certain batting order. In one match there was one batting order in second match there was another how could you have a this kind of WC preparations and experimentation in the event itself
