Number
Seriously you don't need this attitude in T20. When one batsman is there only to take singles then surely some deliveries which can be hit for 4/6 are going for 1s, eventually can cause the team to fall short. sorak, putrevus, Arvind32 and 5 others 3 5 Link to comment

Bigg Brother
People and specially players took Dhoni's role in T20 seriously is actually worrisome thing. He was the least deserving cricketer to play T20 international for close to 15 yrs. Any other country's national team and he would have been kicked out around 2011-12 from t20s.. Nash
Dhoni is t20 World Cup winner captain. but playing slow in 2023 and taking inspiration from 2007 won’t make you world champion. raki05 1 Link to comment
zen
Sir Don is evolving as a cricketer. In last 12 months, he has become the captain (less than 12 months since he became the captain of GT), which has added new dimension to his cricket; in bowling, he changed his action and added the inswinger to his arsenal (already had an effective outswinger which won Ind a test in Eng); and in batting, he is working on new concepts as well. He is constantly attempting to figure out what is best for the team based on the team’s pros and cons and match situations. He is an honest and transparent cricketer, who is expected to take Indian cricket forward and optimize its cricket. Edited February 2, 2023 by zen Link to comment
zen
Before Dhoni, there was Imran Khan, the best captain to come from the subcon, who came from the same school where a captain played the match situations and per the strengths & weaknesses of his team. Imran Khan was a big hitter but adjusted his game to suit team needs and situations. In 1992, when he realized that Pak had to not lose early wkts and counter swing, he promoted himself to #3 to do that job. He was Man of the Series in 1989 Nehru Cup iirc esp. for his batting. Sir Don should look up to Imran too. ThirtyD.
Wow, the amount of delusional this guy has is incredible. To stroke his delusional ego, he was awarded "man of the series" for scoring 66 runs and picking 5 wickets (4 of which came in the last game) across 3 games. BCCI must be really desperate for a "poster boy", so it seems we've drastically dropped our standards and will accept any mediocrity to help that cause. Less we talk about the fanboy over here the better. Soon "SDP" will be compared to the likes of Dhoni and Imran Khan; what a *ing pisstake. sage, raki05, sorak and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

Spot on, so why is this genius wanting to follow him.Dhoni was a complete misfit for t20 and it took that bozo more than decade to score his first 50.Dhoni single handely lost many winnable t20 matches by this nonsense of taking deep and looking for singles. Prabhdeep Singh
Another way of hiding your deficiencies. Pandya is getting found out in batting, rather than admitting, he is making some random generalisation to say he following Dhoni role. It is 2023, there is no place in T20 for a 'Dhoni role'. Pandya is bluffer, Dhoni was great one day player however in T20's mediocre to say the least. Dhoni is hanging on to CSK like a government job. However, unfortunately quite a lot people will believe this false narrative/facade from Pandya. These days he seems a better bowler than a batter. putrevus
I have no problem in moving from Rohit, Rahul and Kohli. Rohit is still the second best 6 hitter behing SKY who averages 2 sixes/innings. Six hitting is most important attribute for any T20 batsman. Pandya wants to be finisher or play at number 5 and if he averages (not even one six per innings)less sixes per innings than Kohli who is not even a six hitter how is it going to work. We need Andre Russell type player not this guy guy who has mindset of Dhoni in t20s. Andre Russell finished India off with his 6 hitting way back in 2016 . To call this team as new look attacking Indian team is ridiculous and let this guy lead that team is beyond ridiculous. raki05 1 Link to comment
