585 runs in the series so far.

500 runs in a series is considered great. He got there in just two matches.

Hv to admit, the pitches hv been flat.  But still this is some effort by Gill.  Scoring almost 500 runs in one test match is not a joke.  Hopefully he leads by example in this test and for rest of the series.    Well Done

Mark Taylor- 426 

Sangakkara- 424 

Lara- 400

 

He can still target Gavaskar's 774 in a series. Easily.

He needs to average 65 in next three matches. Bradman's record is still very safe.

500+ runs in 2 tests is a crazy achievement, kudos. 

 

Ok pitches are flat, but not the first instance. Similar to Kohli's 2014-15 BGT tour, there also pitches were super flat.

6 innings 389 runs, not impossible if the pitches remain batting friendly.

I hope era of superstars is over. Don't want more PR monsters like Ro, Ko to emerge. Let us move towards hyping team results rather than individual achievements. 

 

But yes, Gill's runs will be remembered for a long time. More importantly hope this takes his game to another level for next few years and that confidence also rubs off on his captaincy.

BRat was an establishment candidate, which tbf Gill's as well but not to the same extent. No other player would've remained in our test team post the 2014 duckathon vs Eng, but he was the chosen one so

Yes sports run because of superstars.

His fitness is commendable too, he was running hard for singles and twos .

 

Captaincy sometimes brings best out of some players. It did with Kohli and Gill has started very well too.

Made a mistake in the first test. Corrected in the next match. Well done boy. This is such a phenomenal rise. IN the DK interview he said he worked on a few things during the break after IPL. Hope he fixed some technical glitches.
