Good knock by Devdutt, but…….

He is making full use of his form and grabbing opportunity with both hands. INdia has been struggling with no.3 for quiet a long time. About 4 or 5 years. Australia after trying everyone they have gone back to that fluke master Labu.

Not sure :dontknow: that “It” is missing. Hope I am wrong.

Murli Vijay lacked iT factor yet he was critical to so many of our wins. Let's hope he also does well.

He looked different  in IPL this year,, he was composed and that is why I thought he would do well here.He has all the shots now, let him fail first before knocking him down.

Yes.. and its not like there are new gen kohlis and sharmas waiting in the pipeline. I feel DDP is a big upgrade over Sai

I agree, Paddikal is better than Sai. This is a position for the last 30 years taken up by VVS. Dravid and Pujara. That’s the standard for test no.3 I have. Does Paddikal match up to that standard, I don’t know. SL attack seems pop gun. Jaiswal missed out a daddy 100 here too.

To me he seems like a better option in Tests than Sai Sudarshan who he replaced. A couple of years ago, he seemed very circumspect against fast bowling, but this year, he seemed to have worked on it and got better.

Sudarshan keeps playing wafts outside off and leg stump to get out to harmless balls. I don't think he has that temperament for Test cricket.

For now should play over Sudarshan as permenant no.3 till the bubble bursts. Good luck to him but don’t see long term no.3 like Dravid or Pujara in him.

Sai is not test ready. But he will keep getting picked because he does well in A games consistently and he is from GT. He has definite attributes to do well in Tests.  But not ready. As a no.3 batsman you have to be decisive against off stumpd eliveries.
