England have named an unchanged squad for their tour of India with their all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson not included in the initial 16-man list for the five-test series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Tuesday.

Anderson, with 463 wickets in 119 matches, is recovering from a shoulder injury and has been left out of the squad for the opening test in Rajkot starting on Nov. 9 and is doubtful for the second test in Visakhapatnam.A recurrence of the injury forced the 34-year-old out of the current series against Bangladesh and his availability for the remaining four tests in India, the world's top-ranked side, will be left to medical staff. That means Jake Ball remains with the squad, which is unchanged from the two-test series in Bangladesh, after he was added to the party. England won the first test by 22 runs on Monday, with the second test beginning in Dhaka on Friday.

Squad: Alastair Cook (capt), Moeen Ali, Zafar Ansari, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jake Ball, Gary Ballance, Gareth Batty, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Duckett, Steven Finn, Haseeb Hameed, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes.

Here is mine-

First XI:-Vijay,Rahul,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Rohit,Saha,Ashwin,Jadeja,BK/Mishra(based on the track),Shami.

Reserves:- Gambhir,Nair,BK/Mishra,Umesh.

No place for Shikhar,Ishant in this squad of 15.I'd bring in Kuldeep if another spinner is required for a cover.

First we need to decide how many bowlers ..

If 4, I'd have Shami, Umesh/Bhuvi, Ash, Jaddu

If 5, I'd have Shami, Umesh/Bhuvi, Ash, Jaddu, Kuldeep. Why Kuldeep? Mishra isn't particularly good in longer format and he's not a long term solution to anything anyway. Eng has 5 lefties in their top 7, Kuldeep might be a handful against them.

Personally, I'd go with 5 bowlers. Not really weakening our batting by much but strengthening the bowling substantially.

Good point on the lefties. Does give Kuldeep the edge.

I do not see them picking Kuldeep. Jayant Yadav will probably be the extra off spinner to tackle left handers.

Yes.....In recent times, I think all our national team inclusions of uncapped and new  players have been via the A team  ( excluding Zim tour which is like an A tour these days ).

3 T20s? There's no need to play every damn format for each series. Just alternate between ODIs and T20s with Tests being a regular fixture.

T20 are to forget the phainty we get in odis...Same happened in Australia earlier this year.

LOL...why so much hatred bruv? Eng players are not as bad as people perceive them to be. Definitely much better than Aussies in terms of behavior. Stokes is a tool agreed but Root/Cook etc are gentlemen.

You have no idea!
