Silva
Last year saha had a higher bating average then all those youve mentioned. Teams around the world look at keepers based on weather their glove work is good enough. That one drop by dhawan might have caught india the match, noq imagine the odds of winning if we had a mediocre keeper behind the stumps. nevada, sensible-indian, Unstable Joe and 6 others 1 8 Link to comment

Pandya is a no. 7, ashwin 8 and bhuvi 9..last test matches they all played one position up Yes Saha should be dropped based on one match. Shy9
Are you under some problem? No way you can drops specialist keeper for Parthiv who is not as good as Saha with Gloves, you should not forget what Saha did for India parthiv can bats at any number as only batsman Link to comment
jf1gp_1
You mean parthiv for saha or rahul should open and keep ? Link to comment

WeStMiDz
Agree that Parthiv should play away from home and open the batting to strengthen the line up. Unfortunate for Saha but horses for courses. Parthiv's keeping is not as bad anymore as is made out to be on here. King Tendulkar 1 Link to comment

Dont comment if u dont understand the logic.. Its not for next test match its going forwad in future.. If pandya plays as an all rounder then we would need a keepeer who can bat much better then saha.. I mean batting was always beneficial but india while playing with 4 bowlers and in subcontinent ashwin/jadega both play and are handy with the bat.. So focus on saha's batting ability was much less.. Now in overseas. There is only one spinner and with saha not as good as bairstow or kock, Indian batting looks thin.Saha is a brilliant keeper but.... Link to comment

zen
To expand the discussion, let's assign some values using Saha as an example: Topic = Index WK = 100 Batting = 100 (Avg 31) Let's say to accept 5% a drop in WK performance, we have to match that by say 5x of the drop in wk-keeping performance in batting performance So if the replacement is WK = 95 (-5 frpm index) Batting = 31 * 1.25 (5*5=25% more) = 39 Average (close to 40) If the replacement is WK = 90 Batting = 31* 1.5 (10*5=50% more) = 46 Avg if the replacement is WK = 85 Batting = 31*1.75 = 54 Avg (i.e. being played mainly for his batting abilities) Parthiv's batting avg is 34. For Pathiv, (0.9 to 0.95 WK capability of Saha) to replace Saha his avg should be in the 40-45 range. And Parthiv is not starting fresh where he needs to be "groomed" abc, Unstable Joe, chewy and 3 others 1 5 Link to comment
chewy
Saha is doing excellent (with gloves) and was good with the bat in home games. i would give him garunteed spot till end of England series if he finishes SA and Eng series with batting average of 25 plus, then it’s a success, but with batting average below 20 then his position needs to be considered Unstable Joe and zen 2 Link to comment

What will 3 runs per innings and poorer wicketkeeping bring to the party? beetle and Gollum 2 Link to comment

Msd should take retirement from t-20 instead Link to comment
