Rahul mimics kohli to the core....even his celebration yesterday was complete copy of kohli's body language Ashwin got into verbal altercation with anderson as he commented on Kohli... Umesh and shami openly said they like him more than Dhoni.... Rohit, Rahane, pujara and vijay seems to be in good friends with him.... so overall, he is most respected indian captain from last 20 years or so.... you are a sales man but three 'yes's' dont work on a written forum lol...haha how did you come to that conclusion based on the anecdotes and claims made above...
maniac Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Yes it does...approachable,not stubborn, aggressive, actually cares about winning,no favoritism, stands up to the team, stands for what is right....why just Indian team.....Virat is the modern maryada purush and we all need to respect him. Now should I say all Kohli haters are..........Fill in the blanks
Riju23 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I do think the team respects VK plenty However, hard to say definitively that he is respected more by his team than any other Indian captain in last 20 years. For example I would say Ganguly also had plenty of respect from his players as a leader, many of whom owed their success at least in part to his backing. In fact, in a lot of ways VK getting into it with these Aussies reminds me of Ganguly vs the Aussies back in 01. That Aussie team was a better unit and perhaps a little more aggro/"ugly australian" than the current lot. King Tendulkar 1
CG Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Virat is well respected as he leads from the front and supports his players .Dhoni for first few years of his captaincy was well respected but after not resigning even after whitewashes abroad he lost much of it .Same with Ganguly and Azhar we know .Only Dravid ,Kumble would give Kohli some competition
maniac Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 It is simple...when you are the best player in the team and have the level of dedication that Kohli is famous for with regards to fitness and practice,it is easy to get respect...the intensity alone gives you the aura...even aussies as much as they troll Virat are in awe. With Dhoni it was like watching an average joe munching on his Mcdonalds, saying random dad jokes...lack of intensity by masking it with the term cool etc. Tell me this are you in awe of a guy and respect someone automatically who went to a ivy league school and became a CEO of a fortune 100 company or your average uncle types ticket counter clerk in your local railways(no pun intended) That is why Kohli gets this automatic respect asterix, sscomp32, CG and 6 others 6 3
Cricketics Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Kohli is well respected because of his batting more than captaincy right now. Players understand how much hard work he puts in his batting and hence people have immense respect for him at this time. Eventually if we go on to do well as a team in the overseas swing starting next year, he will earn more respect from the fellow players including the former greats, just for his captaincy. Currently, the respect he has mostly earned has kind of carried from his hard work from all his batting performances and hardwork he has put in his own game, which has kind of rubbed off on players like Umesh and others to work harder on their respective games. sscomp32 1
beetle Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Praising and following the current captain is the sensible thing to do irrespective of how the captain is.It is called survival . When Dhoni was skipper , the team mates usef to praise him too. sscomp32, Shunya, Rasgulla and 1 other 4

Magneto Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 1 hour ago, Prince_ said: Dhoni was a blessing for the Indian team, not nightmare. He sacrificed a lot for the team and didn't care for his own batting records for the betterment of the team. If he had continued to play at no 3/4 in limited overs Cricket, he would've ended up with 30/35 odi centuries. Yes, he struggled a bit in tests but he was still the best wicket keeper batsman in the team. Even now, he's 10 times better than minnow basher Saha. If Dhoni would have played at 3/4, his average would have dipped to something like 34. In his first 25 Tests, Dhoni wasn't half the keeper that Saha is currently. And was a marginally better bat. (Scored two centuries less though). MCcricket 1
