Dhoni: when will the torture end???

The problem is Dhoni is miserably flopping with the bat but still there seems to be some hype like he is the greatest when it comes to stumping, he is helping spinners and some crap like that everyday which doesn’t even exist or even if they do is not super critical to a team than having a proper work-bat.

Its like we all know Rahul Gandhi is the opposition leader, we know why he is in that position we know he is not deserving, we can whine and make fun of it but it is what it is.

Two questions?

Would any other senior player have gotten away with such mediocre performances if Dhoni was the captain?

Would a junior player get similar rope from Kohli or any other Indian captain?

He has already tarnished his legacy.

The problem is not just the fans but even the management comes up with statements like

what can Dhoni do on his own? or it was a collective failure etc.

For example the other day people were blaming Raina and Kohli equally. Now sure Kohli looked off color and Raina looks like he doesn't belong at the international level.

However,Raina got out trying to up the ante around the 30th over after somehow trying to set a platform. same with Kohli. They tried to shift to next gears even though their overall innigs was mediocre.

Dhoni just came in and shut shop. His first real intent was shown in the 47th over when the game was already done and dusted. Had Dhoni got out slogging in the 33rd over, don't think he would have been criticized this badly.

In a way I am glad that Dhoni got exposed to the casual fans . This is what the hardcore fans on ICF and other cricket forums  have been saying for years

I am not sure about the aam janta in India but judging by posts and comments on 2-3 cricket communities that I follow and the comments section of couple of Indian news sites, it seems like significant majority of Indian fans believe Dhoni is past-it. There is still a handful of CSK bhakts who still think the chosen deserves to play forever.
