Didn't Shastri backed Bharti Arun and get his job secured. Can someone point out illustrious career of Bharti Arun. Honestly Manju, Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri are giving a bad name to analysts from Mumbai. The one sensible guy from Mumbai , Agarkar speaks the truth and he is attacked . Forget dhoni when will Gavaskar, Manjrekar and Shastri retire from anything related to cricket?

Did Shastri look at his own career before passing any negative comments on other international cricketers as a commentator and  columnist  ?

Batting average of 35.8 and bowling average of 41 in tests.

Batting average of 29, batting SR of 61 and bowling average of 36 in ODIs.

strikerate is shocking for someone who had hit 6 six sixers in an over. Also pretty below average records in both formats. Guess there were no better replacements in those days.

Shastri was the original “lunger” back in the day who screwed up many a games for India.

Guess what even he was a man of the series or had these crlebrated moments in a world trophy.

Lots of similarities with Dhoni so might have a genuine soft spot

he scored where it mattered ..  gabrila sabatini

Atleast Agarkar demolished an ATG batting order in Adelaide helping India win a test in Aus after 22 years.

The maximum Dhoni has done to win in an overseas test is to order Ishant to hurl bouncers at Poms on a 5th day pitch at Lords.

And Mr. Ravi Shastri :yousuck:

He did save a match by his own in England, and later on we won that series.

Yes I remember that, his partnership with Sreesanth for the last wicket. Then rain came and we survived.

But still the point remains that Dhoni did not do anything spectacular in overseas tests. When Dhoni had a great 2005 and scored a century against Pak in Faisalabad handling Shoaib's pace with no discomfort. I thought he will score some great centuries coming in lower middle order in overseas tests. His highest score outside the subcontinent has been 91 if I'm not wrong. 3 tours of England, Aus, SA and 2 of NZ in his entire test career.

That is awfully poor, considering he has been so dominating in the subcontinent. I expected Dhoni to atleast improve.

There is a reason why former test greats from India did not rate him highly and I thought they were being cynical. But they were always right :frown:
