Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) “In my 24 years with the Indian Test team we never had the balance this team has. The man who brings in such versatility is Hardik Pandya. A guy who can bowl 17-18 overs and is perfectly capable of scoring runs at No 7 or 8 is an asset. This is going to be Pandya’s biggest series and Virat will be banking on him,” “For the first time, India can afford to play with three genuine seamers. Never before could we think of three pacers and a fourth one to fall back on — not even during Kapil Dev’s time could we enjoy this luxury. At best we would play with three quicks with Manoj Prabhakar being one of them. But this team is just so well balanced,” he added. Link -https://www.crictracker.com/hardik-pandya-will-be-a-key-unit-to-indias-fortunes-in-south-africa-sachin-tendulkar/ "An allrounder of the quality of Pandya gives India the edge both with the bat and ball. He is an exciting talent who provides balance to the Indian unit. Pandya -a medium-pacer who comes to bat lower down the order - provides skipper Virat Kohli with a lot of options with team combination," Klusener told TOI. "I expect the South African bowlers to use the short ball against him. But if he survives those initial moments and gets his eye in, then Pandya could be lethal," Klusener added. https://circleofcricket.com/sa-vs-ind-2018-hardik-pandya-key-for-india-in-the-series-says-klusner Edited January 4, 2018 by Ankit_sharma03 tweaker and zen 2

SRT is great cricketer, he has more knowledge than most of us at ICF but I think both pandya and jadeja I do not think finds their name in all 6 test innings in SOA.
mishra Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Team selection Pub Discussion with Kohli Rohit and Shashtri Kohli:Sachin is talking all BS. Rohit should play the first game Shastri: Ok Rohit: No, I need practice? Shashtri: No, Kohli says you should play. Kohli: Rav,Tell Pandya that he is giving him a chance, If he fails Rohit will make into team. Rohit: What if he succeds Kohli: No one succeds in bowling as well as batting at the same time in oversees tour Rohit: Fingers Crossed
goose Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) Indian pace men have to spend a couple of away tours learning their craft anyway, never debuting anywhere close to finished article, might as well invest in Pandya Edited January 3, 2018 by goose
afan Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Rohit should play.. If it's 6 batsmen that India is going in with sarcastic 1

SUMO Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 well I also think rohit should play at no. 6 But if God ji is saying pandya then may be he could be tried before rohit May be pandya becomes a guy like sehwag who turned out to be more effective batsman in test even though his games looks suited for shorter format.

I think we can safely say he has more cricketing knowledge that all of us as ICF, possibly combined. Whether he gets it right or wrong is another issue entirely.
upriser7 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Sachin gave an interesting interview to TimesOfIndia yesterday regarding SouthAfrica tour and conditions of SouthAfrican pitches..I don't know how to create a new thread, so posting the link here - https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-south-africa/toi-exclusive-sachin-tendulkar-on-what-team-india-can-expect-in-south-africa/articleshow/62346007.cms
vvvslaxman Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Let us not kid ourselves. He is no Kapil Dev. At 24 Kapil was our no.1 go to bowler and world class bowler and he was already a dynamic late order batsman against all kind of attacks. He has lots of room for improvement.
