Virat Kohli Press Conference after 1st Test

Many people thought this team will be different from past teams who went to sa. Sure it will be. We were never whitewashed in SA. Kohli will ensure it happens too going by his thought process.

My prediction is he will drop murli vijay and get rahane/rahul. Maybe even ashwin but the 2 chaddi buddies will stay sp that he can justify thier place thanks to his bloated mount everest ego.

I have no idea how you can justify dhawan and rohits place especially after this failure. I hope and pray it's all smokescreen and that sane heads prevail and Rahul and rahane play the remaining matches.

Dhavan & Rohit are mates of Kohli...

Their wives are mates too... Dhavan’s wife goes around shopping with Anoushka... So I don’t see any reason why KL Rahul will replace Dhavan unless huge media backlash...

Dhawan is test material for Indian conditions where his game suits more. You can not say he is not test material overall. He just sucks overseas, where many great plyers fail to perform and hence get labeled FTB.

He might not be better than Rahul or Vijay, that only time will tell when their career end but failing overseas doesn’t really mean one is not test material. Test players can be home track bullies which many players are.

What kind of an argument is this? We cannt build a team that has specialists for home and abroad separately. We should pick players who can play on all venues. Dhawan is a Kambli re-incarnate at this moment. Time to move on. He should not be picked when SL tours home and then pick hm to open in places like SA, Aus.

No argument or discussion. Rahul should be playing as he seems better fit for conditions in South Africa but doesn't realy mean he will click right away.

The whole point is that we can't just assume things about players. This is general discussion and not related to Dhawan who shouldn't be playing anyway ahead of Rahul.

You think Pandya is better suited for conditions than Rahul? Pandya clicked because the way he plays. Dhawan plays shots too like Pandya but just misses out. Sometimes certain players just end up clicking even though their game might not be well suited for swinging conditions.

That is why when players who play crazy shots even in test matches at home and score big centuries, we can't just simply drop them, they have to be at least given a chance in overseas conditions even though their game might not be suitable for overseas.

With Dhawan, we have already tried it so it made sense to try Rahul here and give him whole series. But for future, if there is a someone who bats like Pandya or Sehwag at home in Tests, then we shouldn't just discard him for overseas just because he looks like he will be a walking wicket. Point is we can't assume. Some players might just click. Sehwag wasn't a great player overseas but the point is that he did score in South Africa in his first outing. So many youngsters in the future can be given chance even though they might look like home track bullies. Can't discard them until they are tried.

Raul, rahane too should ask their gf,wife  to mingle with anushka bhabhi maybe then they'll get the chance to play

Hmm.. Is "Intent" going to be Kohli's version of "Process"? He seems to prefer players play an intentful attacking 20s instead of 100 ball 50. I hope Pujara's chasing the wide ball right after the break in the first innings is not due to Kohli's order to show "intent".

- On dropping Rahane -- We decided to go on current form. Rohit had scored runs in last 3 matches against SL. We did similar things with Shikhar sometime back as well. Current form was definitely the criteria. :bumsmack:

I have one more question, if current form is the criteria why was karun nair dropped after 300............double standards

How can rohit 100 against SL be of more value then Nair 300 against eng ( a team who defeated us at home last time)

Karun nair was pathetic against Australia average 13 or something, was cleaned by starc like a tailender

Nair was dropped for bang after 300, aus series happened after

N again u cant make player judging on one series, aisa hota na sehwag hota na yuvraj hota

Apart from that 300 he has nothing much  to show really, manner in which he was getting out against Australia every one was asking him to be dropped nothing puzzling there, he can make strong come back if he is youraj or sehwagh let's see what he does.

Again to less games to pass a judgement and most batsman were struggling in thats series including virat.

As i said u cant make players like that

How many series have rohit , dhawan failed in test yet they keep getting chances
