Time to blood in Prithvi Shaw

Many batsmen have adjusted their games for other positions.

Shaw plays at a very high SR, looks comfortable against both pacers and  spinners, seems to be good at rotating the strike and is a natural stroke player. Has all the traits needed to be a good middle order ODI batter.

Rohit and Dhawan are expected to open in ODIs for the next 4 years atleast.  We should not waste such a talent just because he is an opener.

:cantstop:

Shaw did nto look comfortable against spin in IPL.  he also struggled to rotate the strike and dependent a lot on aerial shots.

I have seen him bat in a quite a few matches ... he did not have any issues against Indian spinners on slow tracks.

Trying lofted shots in T20s is something youngsters feel comfortable about.

He is just 18 and not a finished product yet  ... but we need to find ways to utilize special talents in both tests and ODIs.

There is a major dilemma for India in the near future. Dhawan & Rohit are outstanding ODI openers in any conditions. But in Rahul and Shaw you have two outstanding talents that should not be kept out the side. Somebody is going to have to take the plunge and move to the middle order.

Our middle order of rayadu, Karthik, and dhoni are set. There is no space. Shaw will have to wait until these 3 fail in the World Cup. Tough luck but our middle order is the best in the world with great winning mentality.

I would let the youngster settle in international cricket by playing and focusing on tests first in the Oct '18 to Mar '19 period where we play 7 tests .... he still has a lot of time on his hands .... if he performs well, he would be considered for LOIs once the slots open up (and they will eventually)

He has very loose technique . Look at the gap between bat and pad  any good inswing bowler like broad , philander  Stokes can get him out 9 out of 10 times . But the one technical deficiency which is more cause of concern is that the  way he play on leg side  he never lean towards the ball just throw his hand at staying on  backfoot  many bowler will exploit this fault in future but he has age on his side so hope he correct that

I like him and have been an admirer for long -but these new players grow progressively bad eventually because the more intelligent sides do homework a lot on these new players while they fail to grow as a player and eventually becomes shitty.
I hope Prithvi or Pant doesn't end up as that Clown Rahul

other than dhoni , i dont think rayudu and dk will score long enough to seal their place ..

most probably dk will be kicked out .. have no idea about rauddu though

Stop being ridiculous. He hasnt won anything. He proved to be succumb under pressure when he batted poorly and dropped easy catches in Delhi final game in IPL

This is one game against the worst test side. He hasnt shown winning mentality or adaptability to replace Rayudu, DHoni or Jadhav

He can replace Rohit at openeing though

Under him we won the Under 19 WC when he lead the team which is greater than Ipl.

Are we really going to pretend that t20 franchise game = test for country? And that too, one off T20 game which majority of us don't even remember.

If anything his technique is the closest i have seen to Tendulkar's. He meets the ball right under his eye. Second thing he has improved his late adjustments a lot. He is able to check at the last second instead of being stuck like Pujara.

Tendulkar gave an interview and said, 10 year back, when  he saw Shaw bat. He opined this kid will play for India. Missed his inning yesterday. Any links/highlights please?
