rkt.india
Quote He takes high risks. He plays not for the average but for the thrill, for the quick runs, for what the team needs. Yet he is kept away from those sides because he plays what is conventionally thought of as immature cricket. Getting out playing a reverse lap against a fast bowler is considered worse than prodding along and letting the asking rate climb. Mosher, tweaker, beetle and 1 other 4 Link to comment

At the start of the season with Saha gone we would have snapped on the hands of any batsmen forget WK who will score 530 plus runs at an average of near 40 and add to it 40 + dismissals with a century in Oval where he nearly won the match... in Aus he has the third best avg after Pujara and Kohli.. lol we dont even know how lucky we are to have him.and LOL he is only 20!!! happy my assessment was so true Link to comment

He was struggling against mighty SL bowlers in Nidahas trophy. Him succeeding in England will be close to a miracle and world cup is no place for trial and error. afan
Pant can change any game if he bats for 20 overs or so..Even SCG result would have been different, and he knows that! They call him the X factor for nothing Some days he will be self destructive, but then we will have to cope with that. What a brilliant innings this was from him, lets hope we will see many of them in times to come Link to comment
express bowling
The main thing is ... Pant has the extra time to play fast bowling. Handles both pace and bounce with ease. And his off stump game has improved immensely. He knows where his off stump is and is leaving a lot of balls outside off. Great signs going forward. Mosher, Jimmy Cliff and Laaloo 3 Link to comment

Pant does not have any issues on the leg either. That was Nick Knight analysing, who is a bit bookish in his approach like most English batters. Most Indian batters have tremendously flexible wrists and are great on the leg side, even if they have a body position favouring the off side. There is definite improvement even in his leg side play if we watch him play now (esp. the last innings he played ) - We saw sweeping it along the ground to Lyon and not hitting it up while sweeping as he was doing earlier . - Looks to play a powerfull pull shot If the balls are rising below the Helmet ( Back of length balls /Just short of length) . Always envied when Pooran was doing it and wanted Pant to follow it. - Plays with a rather straight bat when he wants single or 2 towards mid on , wide mid wicket . Earlier use to play a crude flick towards square leg from stumps playing too much across . Now the question is will he bring this to his One day game or forget all of it and just do slam bang and get out ??? express bowling 1 Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
In the latest ICC rankings, Pant is at number 13 among the batsmen. Highest ever ranking by an Indian keeper batsman! Surpassed Farokh Engineer's 17th and Dhoni's 19th rank. All this despite being treated shabbily, almost to the point of being discarded by the TM of Kohli-Shastri. Waiting to see the excuse both of them spout this time to keep him on the bench. Back in 2019 home season, the excuse used was Saha being the best keeper in the world (which he of course was at that time, but in his absence Pant had earned his spot during the tougher away tours and deserved a longer run) Vk1, express bowling and Mosher 3 Link to comment
