A lot has been said about the WAGs being part of the Indian team’s overseas tours over the last few days. Recently, in a review meeting, it was reportedly decided that they the wives and girlfriends of the cricketers will only join them after the end of the league stage for the World Cup. But the Indian captain Virat Kohli is understood to have put forth his demands on behalf of the team which includes allowing WAGs for the whole mega event, reserved rail coach in England and fruits of choice in abundance.

 

It has been learnt that England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) failed to serve the touring Indian team with the fruits of their choice during their recent England tour. CoA was amused by this request as it felt that the players could’ve asked the team manager to buy the required fruits on the Indian board’s expense during the tour.

 

“Apparently, the England cricket board failed to serve the Indian team with the fruit of their choice during the tour. But the CoA was amused by the request and said that the players should have told the team manager to buy bananas on the BCCI’s expenses,” the BCCIofficial was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

 

About a reserved rail coach in England

Virat Kohli requested for a reserved rail coach for the whole team along with their wives during the showpiece event next year to which the CoA felt that the Men in Blue might have the security issues. There is a possibility of the fans mobbing their favourite players but the committee later agreed to it with a condition.

 

“The CoA was initially not willing to agree because it was worried about security. But it was informed by Kohli that the England team travelled by train… The team wants a coach to be blocked and booked. The CoA was worried about travelling Indian fans mobbing the train. Eventually, the committee agreed under the condition that the CoA or BCCI won’t be held responsible if anything untoward happens,” the source further added.

On allowing WAGs for full tour

As far as allowing the WAGs for a full tour is concerned, CoA wanted all the members of the Indian squad on the same page and then only they agreed to accept the demand. “There have been instances in past where a few players have driven with their wives separately. The board wants to stop that practice as it affects team bonding. It was felt that some players might view this as a distraction during tours. They (CoA) want to make sure that everyone is on board before they give the green light,” the source said.

Kohli is getting inpsipiration from Lebron??? Lebron is known to make all these demands.Like Lebron Kohli is delivering on the field. Like Lebron Kohli still unable to make his team dominant.He is still unable to drag his team over the finish line.

 

Kohli you have to win too when you make demands, your team's winning is not matching your team's demands.

I don't think proper travel arrangements are unreasonable.  Indian team and their entourage get absolutely mobbed and harassed by fans.  Anywhere in the world.  

 

Even the fruits thing is fine by me - this article is more along the lines of a hit job, and the fruit thing has intentionally been included to create a bad perception of entitled prima donnas.  

 

Diet is a major component of fitness, for anyone who has ever worked on fitness at a reasonably high level.  Athletes shouldn't have to worry about food arrangements when on tour FFS.  The fact that he had to complain about this, shows the ineptness on part of the BCCI staff.  It isn't the ECB's responsibility to make the arrangements, its the BCCI's.
