You have to look at the context and the time of when Tendulkar's innings was played.

 

That innings of Tendulkar was ahead of it's time. India were chasing quite a high score which means it was a more high pressure situation.

It was out of the ordinary to score that fast in those days. Tendulkar was smashing 10 an over and never changed his style despite wickets continually falling at the other end. It was such a bold innings and made things very easy for the likes of Yuvraj and Dravid to finish off.

Rohit has earned it. He deserves the comparison. Let see how he ends this tournament and how far ahead is he when compared to his contemporaries in the tournament.

I will factor in some 25% of his relative gap to pressure, but there is no denying. He is Gun player in this tournament

Rohit's was a much more dominant knock but Sachin was slightly better. Sachin did it at a time when Pakistan had complete wood over us and hence his assault came as such a huge pleasant surprise. Plus it was vs Wasim, Waqar (both in their last series) and Shoaib at his fastest. Also that upper cut was in a sense the sweet revenge for Miandad's six, hstory changed after that (could have been the Rajesh Chauhan Six in 1997 but not to be)

There was an even better stroke over point versus Dilhara Fernando in the second group stage. SRT had 3 or 4 strokes behind point - late ramp (the most beautiful stroke needing immense precision) then upper cut, square cut (same as this) & backward point slash. He could play them with an open face (to play fine) or close the face to give them better direction.

Sachin’s knock. The quality of this Pak attack is not even in the same ball park as that  one.

 

You had 2 ATG odi bowlers+ a guy bowling at 155 mph + a more than a handy odi leg spinner + a decent 135-140 k seam bowling all rounder. Compare that to this bowling line up.

That Pak attack was damn good, even if two W's were on the last legs. Heck, Razzaq is better than most of the trundlers we saw yesterday. And Afridi was a better bowler than Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan, although the latter will surpass him after more int'l cricket.
