Can KL Rahul become future Rohit Sharma?

He is starting to show more consistency albeit at an undesirable strike rate. As he plays more you think he can  become like Rohit Sharma at some point?

Rahul is a mental midget. No he can’t. Also rohit gets big hundreds. Even tests I don’t remember rahul getting big hundreds. He appears to me he throws away in his wicket mostly.

Probably dhawan will take over opening and KLR will be shunted to middle order. Ideally, TM should be looking at openers beyond Dhawan-Rohit including KLR, Mayank, Gaekwad, Shaw.

Dhawan can countinue 1.5  year more( but I don't think he can play next World Cup )   & Rahul should play at 4 .

Rahul has played only 22 ODIs. He was discarded after 14 random ODIs. Rohit played about 80-90 ODIs with average of 30 and SR in 70s. What if Rohit was discarded then, we wouldn't have seen current Rohit. This TM hasn't been brave enough  and has panicked after a very few failures.

No but he can be a better T20 player, already a more accomplished test batsman. Rohit in ODIs is a freak, we might never see another one like him in the next 20 years, enjoy his greatness in the meantime.

imo he should  only  play important  loi  games and concentrate on test cricket.

Interesting how they went full cycle from trying KLR at 4 in England last year in the ODIs in 2 matches , discarding him trying Rayudu and others and coming back to him... if they had just stuck with him since then, as a lot of people on this forum were advocating, he and our ODI team would have been better for it. No coincidence that given a decent run of games he has come good.

Dhawan performs only in 50 over WC & Champions Trophies.He goes on vacation mode for the remaining bilateral matches.Might not be a bad idea to let him enjoy his vacation & call him 6 months before next WC.In this time,they can test the likes of Shaw,Mayank & Gill in top order.
