And try to take a deep breath, flush out your euphoria on being right about Jadeja, and then re-consider your statement about Jadeja 'growing' into an innings.  Did you seriously think Jadeja was going to "go big" today?  He played an absolute unicorn of an innings, profited from a whole bunch of airy fairy swipes that fell short or into no man's land.  It was only a matter of time before he was going to be dismissed going for one too many.  Jadeja's ODI batting record underwhelms you with its consistent mediocrity, precisely because he has a limited toolkit as a batsman - an inability to hit good balls for boundaries with any sort of consistency or minimal risk. 

 

Pandya, for all his pigeon-holing as a 'mad dart', is a guy who plays the high elbow cover drive, and straight drive - early and often.  And has done it against top shelf bowling.  You are not being objective here.  I'm saying that as someone who holds your opinion in fairly high regard.

Jaddu debuted 11 years 2-3 good innings. He may not have the highest ability but he is s fighter.

the infamous Sachin 175 game, ct final, Wt20 2009 etc and many more pointless knocks in his resume are available.

 

A guy who has played for 10 years as an allrounder has 2.5 good knocks? Really? Yeah so no regret not rating him. Good knock today but he is still a Mediocre LOI cricketer as it stands as of today.

you underestimated his potential ...you are forgetting his average is not bad but he had to figure out how to play a  strike at a higher rate consistently,,,,,he was not as bad as  "2 good innings" either as prejudiced haters say either...  

 

 After promising signs in 2013, he struggled with the bat after a shoulder injury...he stagnated afterwards...Last season, he showed dramatic improvement in tests overseas...Now its showing in ODI's as well

If you have been following my posts for a few years i have always said he should be one of our first picks across all formats. I don't care about his 10 year record. I look for character. I see a man who is benched game after game, stays supremely fit, smiles stoically when called on to serve, and importantly has experienced the heat of test cricket. That's before we move on to his cricketing skills.

He's played many such innings in tests in the last few years, this was certainly no fluke! I assume you're talking about Jad vs Pandya?

See this is another example of bad strategy...he is not a number 5 in ODI. Nor is he a 7. He is a number 8 who can be used like a floater to take the pressure off the other batsmen depending on the situation or push the score up further...bit like Irfan Pathan was briefly used. So he should be always at 8 except when the match situation dictates. And no more hacks like Pant at 4 (this has to be the single biggest blunder we made) and lol Kartick 5 and Pandya 6. It's like IPL.

 

Like I wrote before the semi final, 4 should have been Jhadav yesterday 5 MS 6 Pandya 7 Pant. 

 

Ultimately our top order let us down anyway but our middle order was actually amateur to say the least. I always wanted Pant at 7 or opening and attacking, who knows if Pant had opened, we may have settled quite easily and put NZ off their lines. Rahul is a mental midget and I don't want to see this guy in any format (maybe t20) that's it. 

 

His test place is gone for good to agarwal and shaw and he's not an ODI standout player, a safe back up at most like rahane.

 

Yesterday's match should make you respect real fighters more instead of looking at stats 24/7 - they don't show the whole story.

8 is not again suited batting wise co most day he wont get time and as bowler also chahal n kuldeep are ahead unless its rank turner or slow wkt

His spot always has been reserved in my team.He can be that 1 vital element of the team who can contribute  in any of the  disciplines on any given day.That's why it has been foolish to discard him some what after that CT final in 2017. Infact he should be promoted up the order in batting  , atleast to 6th spot. He can be that 'anchor role' at the 5th position I believe .Still some 7.5-8 years left .
