Bumrah is the best bowler in the world no doubt but even if he skips the Nzl tour we will be fine.  Bhuvi,Ishant and Shami will be enough in Nzl. On paper they are better in those conditions than Bumrah but obviously Bumrah is of a different league.

As long as batsmen can do their job, Bumrah can rest up for that series.But is not opting for surgery a good option long term is the bigger question.

Is " does not require surgery for now " a good solution ?

 

Would it mean that Bumrah would play cautiously and not bowl at full tilt ?

 

Would it not be better to cure him fully, even if it means missing one more series  ?

It’s going to be tough for him mentally. But I hope he doesn’t bowl within himself if he doesn’t have symptoms.  
Someone like Cummins has done it. Came back strong after stress fractures. Sometimes he recovered for a year or so then broke down. But he has been terrific mentally. 
I guess a surgery has some risks too and may be that’s why they are trying to avoid it.

So bowlers have come back after multiple major stress fractures and major back surgeries but somehow bumrah is done for because of a minor injury which he didnt even feel and was detected in a routine x ray?

Is Bumrah apprehensive about back surgery and that is only reason he is opting for rehab.I would rather him miss one year like many other fast bowlers but comeback with no restrictions and fear of aggravating the injury.

Pretty sure there would be a team of doctors advising him what to do

I think we are reading too much into it. Not all stress fractures require surgery, the article a month ago said that only complete breaks require surgery.
