sarcastic Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I saw a ranji trophy final two years ago where the opposing teams had an exciting pace bowler on each side. https://www.cricbuzz.com/live-cricket-scorecard/19140/dd-vs-vid-final-ranji-trophy-2017-18 They were Rajneesh Gurbani for Vidharbha and Navdeep Saini for Delhi. Both were doing so well and trying to catch the national selector's eyes. Saini was faster bowler and Gurbani was the smarter one. Eventually Vidarbha prevailed over Delhi and Gurbani was considered a national prospect. However today, Saini made his international debut and is bowling in great rythm and showing what he is made up of. He is easily clocking in late 140's and does not make it look like it is his first match. Looks like he will board the flight to NZ for the test series. Has Saini finally come of age and he will be seen as effective as Bumrah in the years to come? Has he cracked the code to become a premier international level bower. Vk1 1
vvvslaxman Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 He is 27. He has to come off age. If he doesn't now he will never. He has to make each match count going forward.

Actually Saini didn't do exactly anything special even to be considered. Frustrated 1

express bowling Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I think Saini can bowl fast for 5 to 6 more years ... and fast medium for 2 more years He can have a good career of 7 to 8 years. But please please play him in as many tests and ODIs as possible, from now on. Real McCoy, raki05 and Mosher 1 2
Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 As happy i was to seeing him bowl 152k , i was equally happy that he bowled slower ones at 107k. In t20 variation is the key ...and he has shown variations today which is a great improvement in no time as he was struggling with it in SA series. This shows he learns fast and he needs to be persisted with as he will only grow as he plays more n he has someone like bumrah to teach him a lot. raki05 and Suhaan 2

We threw siraj in t20 which wasnt his format. So there were opp to get in Saini . One of the biggest mistake in last 1-2 yrs have been not introducing guys like Siraj, Saini , rajpoot in international cricket also in right formats express bowling and raki05 1 1

Sran can't even find a spot in the Ranji team. IMO, he was a bit erratic in the shorter versions but did have space and bounce. Still recall him castling Kohli in the IPL finals to deny RCB the elusive cup. RAZPOR 1

First class Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Yes he has , and will be competing with other big boys of Indian pace attack for a spot in the playing eleven in all three format. Hope he stays fit, he a bit bit skinny but has very good action and rhythmic run up, unlike Bumrah.

I know people like Ishant 2.0 I like him too but Saini is a top prospect to be waiting in the wings. He is already 27 and has all the tools to be an intelligent bowler unlike Ishant 1.0. Ishant 2.0 also has reduced pace. And I don't like the fact that he is buddy buddy with the kaptaan. Same is the issue with Dhawan. At the very least, Saini should get a game in the NZ test series. Ishant 2.0 also has reduced pace. . Saini is as accurate as Ishant while bowling 10 kph quicker and with steeper bounce. Moreover, Saini has the habit of bowling 20 to 25 overs regularly in FC. I have seen him clock 140 k to 145 k in the 10th over of a spell on these slow domestic speed guns. Most importantly, he is a wicket taker. We use the term " X-factor " rather easily these days. But Saini's combination of Express pace, sudden bounce, accuracy and seam movement both ways, truly gives him the x factor. Having 2 accurate express bowlers, Bumrah and Saini, bowling in tandem, can completely transform our bowling attack, especially on big away tours. This where toughness as a captain would come in. Just like Bumrah leapfrogged Ishant and Umesh to debut in tests in SA 2018, Saini should do the same in NZ 2020. Edited January 9, 2020 by express bowling Rightarmfast, raki05, Mosher and 1 other 2 2

Who gets the first over in an innings. Who gets to bowl with the wind behind his back. In the Aus series in 18-19, Ishant got all those thanks to kaptaan. Bumrah was asked to bowl into the wind and usually comes 2nd in this setup. This happened in Perth. Any wonder why we lost the match. Need a Gambhir or Srikanth to criticize more about the captain's favorites which hurt the team more than helping it. Agree with the rest of your post. Bumrah, Shami and Navdeep would be a deadly attack and add Kuldeep's wrist spin and we can easily match Australian attack of their heydays. raki05, Rightarmfast and express bowling 1 1 1
