SUMO Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Nemesis of all super talented batsmen is their talent itself. Only When they learn to restrict some adventurous shots early on in the innings they succeed. Rohit, KL in recent times. Yuvi too became consistent after 4-5 years in international cricket. Warner turned around late in his ODI career. Sarfaraz case might be no different. Expect the same from Pant and Samson 2-4 years down the line. Sachin understood his game at the age of 18 thats why he was so special. Can Shaw and Gill replicate sachin's career path ? express bowling, Vijy, sarcastic and 1 other 1 3
SUMO Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Whereas, Guys like Kohli, Root, Kane now Babar all had compact technique with orthodox shots. They tasted success at the first exposure to international cricket and kept on enhancing their stroke play making day by day.

I think there is some raw talent here. Not sure if he will get a run now but he does seem to have the swagger and the confidence of a young Sachin. The first time I saw Samson in the U19 levels, I was struck by his clean technique and confidence. I recall excitedly calling my brother to tell him to watch a budding star in action! The similarity back then to Sachin was striking and I thought it was the beginning of something extremely special! Like many others, I continue to be disappointed by his inability to grab the opportunities and to a degree, his overall regression in batting.. Hope he grabs on to the current lifeline. Sean Bradley Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Since everyone is trying to find someone in Sanju Samson, here's my bit of what i think he looks and plays like, does anyone remember him? This guy had run quite a havoc back in the 90's for a short while, Sanju Samson gives me the "Gentle Giant" kind of vibe, who will start destructing everything if woken up, atypical of west Indian swagger.

Kind a like .... when I was growing up, people said my bowling action reminded them of Malcolm Marshall. But I flopped in inter-gully cricket, so it didn't mean a damn thing.

maniac Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Saw the highlights, a couple of shots he hit, He reminds me more of Sehwag reminding us of a young sachin when he made his debut. Big fan of this guy
Bhoot Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 (edited) He reminds me of Mohd Ashraful. Edited December 5, 2020 by Bhoot

Rohit had same problem, shot selection gets better with time . The more he plays the more he learns which one to use which one not to. Players with huge range like yuvi, rohit, pant, samson will go through this

Till VK is at the helm that is 2-3 years at least he may not be given a chance of more than 2-3 matches at a stretch. If i want one guy to get a 50 now its Sanju in short format . Let some sense decide to give him a chance in top 3 for at least 5-6 matches at a go before benching him. In the meantime he should further work his arse off for another 2 months non -stop , identify all things which are letting him down and iron them out before ENG series . Success against ENG series should clinch it for him. Edited December 7, 2020 by prudent_kreeda
